Motherboard MSI Z77 MPower Review

The release of motherboards from MSI has always been accompanied by some boom. Either it's a new technological approach or a catching design that draws clients, but MSI managed to make its products a desirable acquirement. A new motherboard MSI Z77 MPower is not an exclusion. The manufacturer enlivens into the product all its developments which could be interesting for the most demanding enthusiasts and devotees of utmost frequencies.

Design and Delivery Set

The implementation of black color scheme into Z77 MPower design is a signifier of a high-end product. Black coloring has been given not only to the printed circuit board but also to the integrated sockets and outputs. PCB is characterized by dull coverage. The intensification of visual effects is achieved by gray and metallic components of the cooling system, as well as bright yellow stripes on the radiator plates. Such color combination adds refinement to the standard appearance of the motherboard.

Gigabyte to Release GA-Z170X-SOC Force Mainboard for Overclockers

Gigabyte has expanded its line of overclocking solutions by a new motherboard, codenamed GA-Z170X-SOC Force. The greenhorn is based on Intel Z170 chipset, supporting Skylake-S CPUs for LGA 1151 socket (14-nm technological process). The PCB is distinguished by the inclusion of fiery-orange components and a sophisticated allocation of hardware.

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-SOC Force features 22-phase VRM system and three power connectors: ATX12V, EPS12V & OC PEG. The PCB incorporates such high-quality component as DrMOS PowIRstage from International Rectifier. All power elements might be paired with hybrid cooling; for this purpose, the customer has to acquire G1/4 fittings.

The motherboard accommodates 4 slots for DDR4-3300 MHz RAM with the maximal capacity of 64 GB. Storage subsystem might be organized thanks to 9 SATA III ports, 3 SATA Express ports (10 Gb/sec bandwidth index), 3 M.2 Socket 3 ports (32 Gb/sec bandwidth index), and a pair of USB 3.1 Type-A/Type-C ports. Seagate Launches the 5th Generation FireCuda SSHD

Seagate has expanded its lineup of hybrid drives with the 5th-generation FireCuda SSHD. The greenhorns are based on shingled magnetic recording technology (SMR), rather than perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR). The SMR enables the partial superposition of data tracks; it ensures the ultimate record density. The models are backed by a 5-year’s limited warranty.

Seagate FireCuda series is introduced by 5 models, developed in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch formats. Their capacity varies from 500 GB to 2 TB. The drives employ MLC flash memory (8 GB) as well as SATA 6 Gb/sec external interface. The spindle rotates at 5400 RPM.

The average data read speed makes up 140 MB/sec with 2.5-inch models & 156 MB/sec with 3.5-inch items. The latter offer also up to 190 MB/sec of the average read speed from flash memory; besides, it takes only 8.5-9.5 ms for the chips to search for the needed data on Read/Write operations. To add, the new FireCuda is thought to consume between 1.7-6.7 W power.
