AOC Launches Earlier Announced q2963Pm Monitor

AOC has finally put its new monitor, codenamed q2963Pm, on sale. Announced earlier this year, at CES 2013 to be precise, the product is now available in official European retail stores at a price of about 314 Euro. As the name suggests, the monitor enjoys quite a voluminous 29-inch display, and in combination with the suggested price, it might become the most affordable option in this format segment.

AOC q2963Pm employs IPS panel type that ensures high resolution showings: 2560x1080. The display aspect ratio equals to 21:9, whilst array response time does not go beyond 5 ms (in GtG mode). The implementation of an advance panel promotes for the utmost viewing properties. Therefore, the monitor offers wide viewing angles in both vertical and horizontal aspects (178/178 degrees), maximal brightness of 250 nits, typical static contrast – 1000:1, and rather high dynamic contrast – 5 million to 1. Besides, q2963Pm is equipped with a power-saving WLED based on white diodes. The …

Zalman Showcases a New GV Series of Power Supplies

Zalman is glad to introduce its fresh PSU series, entitled GV. Pursuant to the manufacturer, these power supplies are intended for the support of high-efficiency components. Taking into account the demands of contemporary PCs, Zalman equips the GV units with a single +12V bus that is able to endure high current capability. Upon the whole, the new series embraces three models: ZM500-GV (500W), ZM600-GV (600W), and ZM700-GV (700W).

All Zalman GV PSUs employ non-modular cable design and high-quality Dual-Forwarding Switching schemes. Those schemes allow for the decrease of losses on switching and for the lowering of operational temperatures. Thanks to this innovation, an overall efficiency of all units approximates 88%; such index is vindicated by 80Plus Bronze certificate.

Cooling of all internal hardware pieces is organized by efforts of a sole 120 mm fan. A comprehensive set of protection options saves all components from a variety of glitches (OVP, SCP, OPP, OCP, UVP), …

The Switchover to Nvidia GeForce GTX 760

Nvidia has officially introduced one more graphics adapter from 700 series: GeForce GTX 760. As it was expected earlier, the card is based on GK104 graphics chip (on Kepler architecture) with 1152 CUDA cores, 32 ROPs and 96 TMUs. Its nominal clock frequency makes up 980 MHz, still this index might be overclocked at average to 1033 MHz.

Reference adapter is furnished with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory that employs 256-bit interface. Nonetheless, Nvidia does not exclude the possibility of introducing the models with 4 GB memory capacity. The nominal memory clock frequency equals to 1502 MHz, while its overclocked frequency reaches up 6008 MHz. This adapter is thought to support GPU Boost 2.0 technology that adjusts the overclocking frequency in reliance on GPU thermal condition. Thus, the more powerful cooling system is, the higher frequencies the users might expect.

To continue, power supply subsystem is represented by a couple of 6-contact power sockets. The maximal claimed TDP …
