MSI Introduces A88XI AC Motherboard for FM2+ Platform

The product line of MSI’s mini-ITX motherboards now welcomes a new-comer: the MSI A88XI AC. It takes AMD A88X chipset for Socket FM2+ platform as the basis; this implies the support for AMD Athlon and AMD A series CPUs (of all generations). The PCB offers two DIMM slots for the integration of DDR3-2133 MHz RAM (up to 32 GB). Upon the whole, this model is able to offer much more than other small-sized boards.

The MSI A88XI AC accommodates 4x SATA III 6 Gb/sec ports for the connection of drives and 1x PCI-e 3.0 x16 socket for the implementation of an add-on card. Network options are secured as by gigabit Ethernet controller, so by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac modules. External I/O panel houses three audio ports, one S/PDIF out, one RJ-45, two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports, one PS/2 Combo port, and three video ports (HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub).

Moreover, the support for 8-channel sound production (due to Realtek ALC887) and HDMI video port entails the playback of 4K Ultra HD …

Meeting Ballistix Elite DDR4 Memory from Micron Technology

As part of Crucial brand, Micron Technology comes out with a new generation of RAM – the Ballistix Elite DDR4. It is developed in a pure black PCB with a powerful heatspreader and an integrated thermal sensor. Initially, the company releases planks of 4 GB and 8 GB, although in retail sale the products will be available in 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB kits. Pricing is unknown so far.

Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4 memory operates at 2666 MHz frequency and boasts 21 Gb/sec throughput index. Its power-efficient facilities are 40% better than those inherent in DDR3 models with analogous clock frequency. This makes gaming process a delight due to intense responsiveness, optimized latencies, and increased frame rates.

The modules support XMP 2.0 profiles as well as Ballistix Memory Overview Display utilities; the latter track the performance of each module, analyzing temperature, voltage and frequency showings in real time. Furthermore, Micron Technology makes its DDR4 compatible …

ASRock Showcases X99 Taichi & Fatal1ty Professional Gaming i7 Mainboards

ASRock announces a pair of gaming ATX mainboards – the X99 Taichi and the X99 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming i7. Both new-comers are developed on Intel X99 chipset, targeting Intel Core i7 & Intel Xeon CPUs for Socket LGA2011-3 platforms. The pair employs a 12-phase digital VRM system and allows installing up to 8 DDR4-3300+ MHz memory modules. Both boards accommodate top-tier components which are accompanied by a range of advanced technologies.

The key differentiation between the two motherboards is external design. ASRock X99 Taichi boasts an original black-and-white gamut with an offbeat ornament, whereas ASRock X99 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming i7 employs a traditional gaming red-and-black gamut.

Both models feature three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots for the connection of VGA cards as well as a pair of PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots. Storage subsystem is represented by 8x SATA III bays, one SATA Express and 2x Ultra M.2 slots. Network subsystem is realized by means of two …
