Galaxy Unveils a Shortened Version of GeForce GTX 760 Adapter

Galaxy Microsystems, a reliable partner of Nvidia, has recently unveiled its own, shortened version of GTX 760 graphics adapter. Codenamed Galaxy GeForce GTX 760 GC Mini, the card employs a reference GK104 GPU (28 nm), but is differentiated by an original PCB and a factory overclocking. The implemented circuit board features 193 mm length dimensions and is elaborated on a blue textolite.



The new-comer is furnished with 1152 CUDA cores that run at 1019 MHz but can be overclocked up to 1084 MHz. Video subsystem is introduced by GDDR5 modules with 256-bit interface. The overall capacity of modules makes up 2 GB. The GDDR5 demonstrates rather striking performance, considering the card’s middle-end destination: the modules are able to gain 6008 MHz clock frequency.

Official Presentation of AMD G-T16R for Embedded Systems

AMD has replenished its product line with a new hybrid processor with appreciably low power consumption. G-T16R belongs to the Embedded G-Series line and is a part of AMD Brazos 2.0 platform. This APU is primarily destined for the embedded systems employment. AMD representatives stress out that G-T16R is an appropriate solution to be used in transport equipment, trade and cash desk stations, medical electronics, as well as in industrial administrative systems.



The company has managed to design its hybrid processor in a way to make it more saving than any other product of the same line. Thus, the average power consumption level equals to 2.3 W with Thermal Design Profile (TDP) of 4.5 W. Despite such low-power index, G-T16R is able to secure high performance showings which exceed the showings of the predecessor Geode LX three times as much. To continue the comparison, the new model consumes 7% less power than Geode LX but, at the same time, takes 58% less space on the motherboard …

Toshiba will increase the capacity of hard drives up to 600 terabytes

Toshiba is engaged in improving the existing hard drives in order to increase their capacity. Limited to several tens of terabytes, Japanese do not want to stop — they need at least 600 terabytes in a single 3.5-inch drive. To do this, Toshiba uses all the tools and opportunities, including temporary cooperation with companies, competitors, TDK, and Showa Denko KK.



The newly formed trio of producers focuses on the development of new technologies of recording information on magnetic media and improvement of existing methods. Alliance sees great prospective in the technology of the so-called «two-dimensional magnetic recording» (TDMR). It is experimental, but using, it is quite achievable to record density of 10 terabits per square inch, which thus gives the capacity of 600 terabytes in a single hard drive.


Of course, no one talks about the chances of such a capacious storage in the foreseeable future — Toshiba and its partners will have more than one year of research …
