ASRock to Release BeeBox Mini-PC with Type-C Interface

ASRock has replenished its series of Intel NUC mini-PCs with a new model – the BeeBox. Its key peculiarity is the support for USB Type-C interface. The model features 118.5x110x46 mm dimensions, satisfying basic corporate and home entertainment needs. In addition, it boasts low power consumption level combined with a strong performance.

ASRock BeeBox will be available in three versions: as a barebone PC, a full-blown system without OS and a full-blown system with OS. Each version will be housed either in a classic black, a stylish gold or a pure white chassis.

The heart of the model is Intel Braswell platform (64-bit, 14 nm) equipped with a two-core Celeron N3000 CPU, running at 1.04/2.08 GHz frequency (basic/dynamic). There will be versions with a four-core Celeron N3150 CPU. Both processors feature 4/6 TDP only. Besides, all computers come with an integrated Intel HD graphics.

EK Water Blocks, a well-known Slovenian designer of gamer- and enthusiasts-targeted waterblocks, has recently announced the launch of its two updated modifications of CPU-waterblocks EK-VGA Supremacy Clean CSQ. Entitled Full Copper and Full Nickel, both products are attributed to the universal cooling solutions, due to the incorporation of special fixtures which are known to show compatibility with all contemporary desktop processors. Hence, their mounting might be realized without the engaging of any tools.

The major differentiation between the two models lies in the enclosure: Full Copper features a copper base and a copper waterblock lid, while Full Nickel is distinguished by all nickel coverage. At the same time, both novices have got similar framework of the base with an advanced system of micro-channels. The surface of copper base itself is thoroughly polished to provide for a better adhesion to the CPU cover.

Next year TSMC will start manufacturing the first 20nm chips

The Taiwanese company TSMC confirmed its intention to start production of chips using 20 nm technological processes in 2013. However, for now the company does not plan its production on an industrial scale and will release the first chips in a limited quantities, giving them a total of 1% of production capacity. According to the head of the company, the mass production of semiconductor chips with this technology will not begin until 2014.

Meanwhile TSMC Company is going to produce only one version of the chip, which will be able to enter into the wide range of devices, from smart phones with low-power to high-performance graphics cards. For comparison, the Taiwanese company currently has four different output chips on 28-nm technology.
