Gigabyte Unveils GA-E2100N Motherboard with SoC

Gigabyte has replenished its line of mini-ITX motherboards with a new remarkable model: the GA-E2100N. The product is targeting the segment of small-sized desktops or home media systems. It is based on AMD Kabini platform for Socket AM1 and equipped with AMD E1-2100 SoC with passive cooling solution. Featuring 170x170 mm, the board offers the whole range of facilities any modern full-sized model avails.

The integrated into Gigabyte GA-E2100N chip comes with an in-built Radeon HD 8210 graphics core with the support for DirectX 11.1 standard and with 1 MB of L2 cache. The chip operates at 1 GHz frequency, consuming not more than 9 W power. SoC is accompanied by two slots for the installation of up to 32 GB DDR3 memory modules with the maximal frequency of 1333 MHz.

The PCB is designed according to Gigabyte Ultra Durable 4 Plus template. It presumes the employment of high-quality components serving to protect the system from humidity, electrostatic discharge, voltage …

Two New SSD Series for Corporate Clients from Samsung

Samsung has recently announced the release of two new SSD series, intended basically for the employment in corporate segment (for servers and large data storages). The first series, codenamed SM843, will be represented by models of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacity; the second series, codenamed SM1625, will contain models of 100GB, 200GB, 400GB, and 800GB capacity.

All the models within the series are based on MLC NAND flash-memory, developed under 20 nm technological process. This allowed the company to increase the writing speed index and SSDs durability three times as much, if compared with rival drives and items of the previous generation.

SM843 solid-state drives are designed in 2.5-inch form-factor. They are notable by 28% lower power consumption in active mode and 80% lower retention time. The models employ SATA 3.0 interface and demonstrate the following speed showings: consecutive Read speed achieves the point of 520 Mb/sec, consecutive Write speed equals to 420 …

The Intel Company Is Going to Give a Roland for an Oliver to AMD Ryzen

A short while ago the French Canard PC Hardware magazine has reported, that Intel is going to give fitting reply to AMD Ryzen pilot projects and plans to release two new Kaby Lake-S CPUs.

The first processor is expected to be launched under the Intel Core i7-7740K codename. It will get four compute cores with Hyper-Threading support, 8 MB of tertiary memory cache, unlocked multiplier and the 100 W basic TDP rate. Operating frequencies will lie in the range of 4.3–4.6 GHz in the Turbo Boost mode.

The second specialty is Core i5-7640K with four cores and 4–4.4 frequency of operation. It also features 6 MB of L3 cache, 100 W TDP and the support of Hyper-Threading technology, though we can’t be sure as for the last-named specification. One should admit, that heretofore only the Intel Core i7 line offered multithreading in its 4-core desktop processors.
