Chassis Thermaltake Level 10 GT Review
Chassis with futuristic design are not novelty for the exacting consumers, but the demand for such products never slumps. In this light, practically every company that specializes on computer hardware tries to replenish its line of chassis with an item of unusual design and prominent technical characteristics. In the majority of cases, such products belong to the high-end category and cost pretty penny. Thermaltake chassis collection boasts a line of high-end products, among which is Level 10 GT model. This model is characterized by refined and stylish design, as well as, multiple facilities pertained to layout and performance.
Design
Chassis Thermaltake Level 10 GT is developed in Full-Tower form-factor and goes with 582x282x590 dimensions. The frame and plates are made of steel, while the ornamental elements – of plastic. The casing has got external section divisions which are realized by means of the overhung details and different coloring. Upon the whole, this model is released in two colors, black and white, however Snow Edition series looks more futuristic and unusual. One of the side plates accommodates security lock; left plate has got a transparent window, above which customers will find an overhung section destined for 200 mm fan. Dust filter is located opposite the fan.
The rear plate allocates a fan and three holes with rubber rims for hoses and cables of WCS. The frontal plate is fixed by latches and can be easily removed without any tools. This part has got 200 mm fan which is called to cool down the hard drives. 5.25-inch bays are covered by black metallic grids; their side part deploys Startup and Reset buttons. This panel is also equipped with four USB 2.0 sockets and audio slots.
Fan rotational control buttons, as well as eSATA and USB 3.0 interfaces, are localized on the upper part of the chassis. Rotational speed is altered due to the voltage regulation in 6V to 10V ranges. The fans are lighted up by multi-color lighting which can be deactivated if necessary. In addition, there is a special panel on the upper part dedicated to the slots for 3.5 and 5.25 inch devices. The bay for hard drives provides for their unimpeded hot swapping without chassis unsealing.
The nominal delivery kit of Level 10 GT embraces user manual, bracing wire kit, headphones stocker, directional kit for hard drives, power adapter, fixing screws kit, speaker, and hexagon racks kit for motherboard installation.
Internal Configuration
Thermaltake Level 10 GT chassis dimensions allow the customers to install graphics cards of up to 385 mm in length and motherboards of various form-factor: micro-ATX, ATX and eATX. The casing is characterized by the bottom PSU localization. The chassis stands on plastic feet which are noted for the availability of hinges; those hinges can be moved out of the chassis casing for better steadfastness. The clipboard accommodates control buttons, HDD activity indicators, four USB 2.0 sockets, audio slots, a couple of USB 3.0 sockets, and a single eSATA port without additional power supply.
Level 10 GT is furnished with four fans, produced by Thermaltake specifically for this chassis. Three 200 mm fans are connected to the controller and characterized by low rotational speed which approximates 600-800 rpm. The noise level on such conditions equals to 13-15 dB. This controller is monitored by three buttons which go with integrated lighting and are located on the top plate of the casing. The first button allows choosing the mode (permanent or blinking) and color of lighting (green, blue or red). The other two buttons are called to alter the rotational speed from Low to High frequencies. One of the fans serves a cooling tool for the disk system; the other fan blows out hot air from CPU area; the third fan blows in the airflow, colling down the motherboard, graphics card and expansion cards.
The fourth fan, located on the rear plate, goes in more compact dimensions (140 mm) but features more powerful rotational speed (up to 1000 rpm). It doesn't have any lighting and is connected to the motherboard by means of a standard three-contact socket. The produced noise level does not exceed 16 dB.
PSU is fixed to the rear plate by screws; no shock-absorbing components are stipulated by the developers. The customer is able to adjust it in different positions: when the fan is in the upper part and when in the bottom. The delivery kit includes adapter for the switch of power supply sockets.
System Integration
This model of chassis does not belong to the budgetary category, thus everything in its integration is well-considered. The side doors are easily removed from the loops. Hard drives are installed into bays with sweeping edges; the lower part of the bays is covered by a shutter with spring. Such framework facilitates the installation and demounting of hard drives. It is also possible to place SSD or 2.5-inch drive within the bays. In addition, all the cables can be neatly hidden behind the motherboard tray.
