Some More Details about Intel Core i7 Haswell Processors

As it was publicized earlier this year, a new generation of Intel Haswell processors will be launched in spring 2013. Along with the line of CPUs for desktop systems, Intel will release a series of mobile CPUs. The release is planned for April 2013. Intel Core i7 Haswell will be a pioneer mobile series and will count only three models: Intel Core i7-4930MX Extreme Edition, Intel Core i7-4900MQ and Core i7-4800MQ. All three models are going to become the best match for laptops of gaming class and portable work stations due to their power consumption.

Intel Core i7-4930MX Extreme Edition is a flagship model in the series. It features four cores and supports Hyper-Threading Technology that enables the operation not with four currents (as the majority of contemporary 4-core CPUs do) but with eight currents. Its nominal clock frequency equals to 3GHz, but thanks to the support of Turbo mode the index might be increased to 3.9GHz with one enabled core and up to 3.7 GHz with all enabled cores. It is equipped with 8MB of cache memory and Intel HD 4600 graphics module that operates at 400MHz; it's possible to overclock graphics module up to 1350MHz. The average power consumption level is estimated at 57W.

Intel Core i7-4900MQ features four cores, Intel HD 4600 graphics module, and 8MB of cache memory. It also supports Hyper-Threading Technology, similar to the flagship model. Unlike it, this model operates at 2.8GHz but can be overclocked up to 3.8GHz in Turbo mode with one active core and up to 3.6GHz with four active cores. Its average power consumption makes up 47W.

The final model in the series, Intel Core i7-4800MQ, is equipped with 6MB of cache memory. Its clock frequency formula looks the following way: nominal clock frequency – 2.7GHz, Turbo mode with one active core – 3.7GHz, Turbo mode with four active cores – 3.5GHz. All other specifications are similar to the previous CPU model.
