Motherboard ASRock Z87 Extreme6 (LGA1150 Platform) Review

Intel Z87 platform is masterfully penetrating into all global markets. ASRock is the company that has already managed to introduce a set of products based on this platform, including Z87 Extreme6 model. The very board is supposed to be an advanced solution for enthusiasts, containing all necessary for specific usage attributes: POST-indicator, a powerful VRM system with a massive heatsink, and a lot of other facilities mentioned below.

Design and Layout

ASRock Z87 Extreme6 is designed in ATX form-factor with 305x244 mm dimensions. Its top side accommodates a large number of components, while the reverse side revels in three driver-doublers (ISL6611A) of CPU power rails only. Intel Z87 chipset is cooled down by a voluminous heatsink. A couple of additional ASM1061 controllers are soldered right to the system logics; they allow for the usage of up to ten devices with SATA 6 Gb/sec connectivity interface. The board comes with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 graphics core. …

Apple iMac Pro Monoblock Overview

Apple has recently conducted the WWDC 2017 conference. The corporation introduced the latest devices and upgrades, one of which is the iMac Pro monoblock computer. This specialty is a professional solution, satisfying the greatest demands of highend users.

Key features

iMac Pro has the most impressive configuration among all Mac products. It obtained up to 42 MB of cash mem, 18(!) cores and 4.5 GHz in the Turbo Boost mode, thus, providing effective multithread data processing, as well as high single-threaded applications operational velocity. The Hyper Threading technology lets easily perform particle systems modelling and rendering (static and animated) in 2D and 3D.

The novelty by Apple got the 8/10/18 cores Intel Xeon CPU, Radeon Pro Vega graphics processor, which ensures frame overfrequency in VR apps, real-time 3D-rendering support and ultimate gaming adjustments. The HBM2 module has replaced external VRAM memory, so the data import speed is 400 GB/sec. The …

Kingston and Adata Come up with M.2 SSDs

Within the framework of Computex 2014 both Kingston and Adata are going to introduce their fresh SSD series of M.2 form-factor. In keeping with the manufacturers’ words, the products – SM2280S2 and SR1020NP — are differentiated by some spectacular performance. At present the companies provide only basic info about the drives, leaving their fans in suspense.

Kingston SM2280S3 is based on Phison PS3108 that supports SATA 6 Gb/sec interface only. It ensures 540 MB/sec and 514 MB/sec speed on sequential Read/Write operations. For sure, it’s not the performance innovative M.2 drives should demonstrate (about 10 Gb/sec), although the model considerably surpasses traditional HDDs in this respect.

This SSD series is represented by three models of 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacity. All of them employ DDR3 cache-memory with the minimal 256 MB capacity. Besides, the difference in efficiency between other M.2 offers Kingston promises to compensate by a more affordable price.
