MSI Z97 Overclocking Motherboards are Ready for High Scores

MSI has replenished the lines of companies with a few series of motherboards based on a fresh Intel Z97 chipset. MSI Z97 Overclocking series is a peculiar one, ready to marvel by high scores. It is introduced by three hi-end models: MSI Z97 MPower, MSI Z97 XPower AC and MSI Z97 MPower MAX AC. In keeping with the idea, the triple offers high functionality, combined with an unprecedented stability and a striking design.

Being the basis for an overclocking system, these motherboards ensure a long-lasting durability in extreme loading conditions, primarily due to the premium hardware base. Hence, the models are equipped with Military Class 4 components with Guard-Pro core, which provides for the highest protection against high temperatures, humidity, electromagnetic distortions, and electrostatic discharge. Besides, Guard-Pro features MSI ECO Power technology that disables power on idle controllers for a more power-efficient operation.

Seagate Launches the 5th Generation FireCuda SSHD

Seagate has expanded its lineup of hybrid drives with the 5th-generation FireCuda SSHD. The greenhorns are based on shingled magnetic recording technology (SMR), rather than perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR). The SMR enables the partial superposition of data tracks; it ensures the ultimate record density. The models are backed by a 5-year’s limited warranty.

Seagate FireCuda series is introduced by 5 models, developed in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch formats. Their capacity varies from 500 GB to 2 TB. The drives employ MLC flash memory (8 GB) as well as SATA 6 Gb/sec external interface. The spindle rotates at 5400 RPM.

The average data read speed makes up 140 MB/sec with 2.5-inch models & 156 MB/sec with 3.5-inch items. The latter offer also up to 190 MB/sec of the average read speed from flash memory; besides, it takes only 8.5-9.5 ms for the chips to search for the needed data on Read/Write operations. To add, the new FireCuda is thought to consume between 1.7-6.7 W power.

The Raijintek Metis Plus Chassis in a Fresh Design

Raijintek has released a new version of Mini-ITX chassis, called Metis Plus. There are several colour solutions of this specialty: red, black, silver, white, blue, green and gold. The motherboard plate, dust filter and other parts are black.

The framework is manufactured out of 1.5 mm anodized aluminum, 0.5 mm SPCC steel and acryl (the side panel window).

According to the specification, this chassis can hold four 2.5-inch and one 3.5-inch drives or two 2.5-inch and two 3.5-inch SSD/HDD and a 120 mm liquid-cooling system heatsink, which can be mounted only at bundled 120 mm backlit fan disassembly. The max size of the motherboard to be installed is 170 × 170 mm (Mini-ITX), of the graphics card – 170 × 160 × 40 mm, of the CPU cooler – 160 mm. The interface panel on the top has two USB 3.0 connectors, as well as headphone and microphone jacks. To minimize hardware overheating developers designed this cube-type model with a grid-covered vent on the top.
