The High-End M.2 ADATA XPG SX7000 Drive with a PCI Express 3.0 x4 Interface

The novelty by ADATA – XPG SX7000 – has recently joined the company’s model line of high-speed solid-state drives. This product is performed in the M.2 2280 format and operates on the base of 3D NAND TLC chips and SMI controller. The manufacturer offers four capacity options, namely 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

The PCI Express 3.0 x4 interface and the NVMe 1.2 specification make ADATA XPG SX7000 highly efficient. It ensures the 1,800 MB/s of reading and 850 MB/s of writing speed. The random performance at 4 KB data handling corresponds to 130,000 and 140,000 IOPS. Thus, these rates are much higher than those of standard HDD and SATA SSD, which provides a perfect system responsiveness, as well as high productivity.

Additionally the ADATA XPG SX7000 SSD features the DRAM memory cache and supports SLC Caching, LDPC ECC, RAID Engine and Data Shaping. The 5-year warranty is supplied.

Transcend SSD220S: Affordable TLC-Based Solid-State Drive

Transcend expands its lineup of SSDs with a new model – the SSD220S. It is based on 15-nm TLC memory chip available in 240 GB & 480 GB capacities. The model employs SATA 6 Gb/sec interface as well as DDR3 cache-memory. The drive is housed in a small-sized aluminum case (100x69.85x6.8 mm dimensions).

Transcend SSD220S boasts satisfactory Read/Write speed showings: sequential Read/Write data transfer activity – 550/450 Mb/sec, random – Read/Write data transfer activity (4K) – 80.000 IOPS. At the same time, Read/Write incompressible data transfer speed does not go beyond 330 Mb/sec. Moreover, these SSDs support all modern technologies, including Advanced Garbage Collection, SMART, TRIM, NCQ, and DevSleep.

To add, it’s always possible to upload SSD Scope software pack to further improve the performance. The drive is ready to operate in a wide range of temperatures (0-+70 degrees). The 240-gigabyte model costs 69 EUR, whereas its senior companion (480-gigabyte item) …

Fractal Design Showcases an Offbeat Define S Chassis

Fractal Design, a well-known Swedish PC hardware developer, comes out with an innovative PC chassis, entitled Define S. The new-comer offers an ideal balance of functionality with a perfect soundproofing. Its exterior is differentiated by a classic strictness and style combined with a totally black coverage. The case might accommodate as mini-ITX/mATX motherboards, so full ATX items. Moreover, potential customers are able to choose between a windowed version ($90) and an entirely blind version ($80) of the chassis.

Key peculiarity of Fractal Design Define S model is absence of traditional bays for ODD and HDD/SSD. Instead of them, there are dedicated vertical seats on the reverse side of the motherboard tray for three 3.5-inch drives and two additional 2.5-inch drives. Seats for the 5.25-inch ODD are absent at all.

The layout allows for the installation of 425-mm graphics cards (if frontal fans are excluded, the maximal admissible length of cards might be 450 mm), CPU …
