Meeting New Cooling System Brocken 2 from Alpenfoehn

Only a couple of weeks are left till the official release of a new cooling system Brocken 2 designed by Alpenfoehn. This is a long-awaited launch, since the fist version of the system, entitled Brocken, was honored to gladden the audience long time ago. Hereby, Brocken 2 has got a wee bit modified framework, if compared with the predecessor. Its dimensions together with a fan equal to 146x100x165 mm.



The base is shaped by means of five 6 mm copper heat pipes, tightly pressed together. Aluminum plates of the heatsink seem to be ‘cut’ in the center, unlike the one-piece construction of plates implemented in Brocken.


Active cooling power is ensured by a nine-blade fan of 140 mm standard size, known as WingBoost 2. The fan supports PWM technology that allows altering its rotational speed within the boundaries of 400-1100 RPM. The GIGABYTE company has officially introduced a new graphics card, named GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 WINDFORCE 2G (GV-N1050WF2-2GD). It possesses such peculiarities as refined PC-board design and a modified cooling system.



GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 WINDFORCE 2G is based on a 14 nm NVIDIA GP107-300 GPU, supporting 640 CUDA, 40 TMU and 32 ROP. This video card can operate in one of pre-set modes – “Gaming” or “OC”. Its frequency formula goes in accord with the benchmark of 1354 / 1455 MHz in the first case and 1379 / 1493 MHz in the second. At the same time 2 GB of GDDR5 memory work at the reference effective frequency of 7008 MHz.


The PC-board is improved due to the Ultra Durable VGA company concept and an enhanced 4+1-phase power subsystem construction with one 6-pin PCIe connector. ASMedia to Introduce USB 3.5 Controllers in 2014

ASMedia, an auspicious designer of PCIe bridges, USB 3.0 controllers and Switch IC items, announces the development of a new USB 3.5 controller. According to the preliminary information, this controller is going to support 10 Gb/sec data transfer speed, which is nearly twice higher than current USB 3.0. Earlier the launch of an advanced component was scheduled for late 2014, however, now the company is intended to officially introduce it early next year.



The decision to elaborate a speedier controller is explained by ASMedia in two ways. Firstly, the company is currently receiving more orders from motherboard manufacturers for the development of USB 3.0 hubs, due to the recent launch of Intel Haswell CPUs. Nonetheless, an enforcement of platform will sooner or later require an enforcement of various facilities, including connectivity and data transfer.
