The novelty from Western Digital – a portable SSD drive under the G-Technology brand (namely the R-Series G-Drive Mobile SSD) – is to see the world by the end of the year. This product is aimed at photographers, video bloggers and content creators. Out of the box customers get a device, formatted for Mac-operated computers, however, when reformatted, it becomes compatible with the Windows OS.
The G-Drive Mobile SSD complies with the IP67 standard, so it is dust- and water-protected. This storage device, performed in a rugged enclosure, is said to sustain falling from the 3 m height on a carpeted concrete surface.
The WD specialty supports a USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface, ensuring the bandwidth capacity of up to 10 Gbps. A reversible USB Type-C port is also present. The reported rate of transmission comes to 560 MBps. The overall capacity equals to 500 GB, 1 and 2 TB.
