AMD Highlights Plans for the Transition to the 28nm Process

AMD is a company known for the continual and elaborate work on the development and improvement of all product lines, as well as technological standards. Thus, the coming 2013 year is supposed to be portentous for the company in terms of the implementation of 28nm standards in their APU. AMD has recently voiced the plans for the change of the Trinity APU to a new model, codenamed Richland, and the transition to 28nm technological process.



The new APU, Richland, is presumably to be released in two versions: dual-core and quad-core. It will support a number of high-performance technologies, such as Blu-ray 3D, dual graphics, Open CL, AMD turbo core overclocking, and some others.


According to the preliminary information, Richland will employ FM2 socket (which Trinity employs) and Radeon 8000 series DirextX 11 GPU. This GPU will be furnished with 128 cores in dual-core model line, and with 384 cores in the high-end A10 APU. The same number of cores has been implemented in …

Cooler Master Showcases G-Series PSUs



Along with the launch of new PC chassis, Cooler Master is ready to release new G-series power supply units. The series is introduced by three models – G500, G600 and G700 – with 500W, 600W and 700W power, respectively. All of them correspond to ATX12V v2.3 standard, support Active PFC option and a range of protection tools (from short circuit, overvoltage, current overload, power overload). Moreover, these units employ a dual EMI-filter and take benefit from a single 120 mm fan with automatic speed control functions.


Cooler Master G-series PSUs have been felicitated with 80Plus Bronze certificate, due to their high efficiency (approximately 85%) and an estimated mean time between failures of 100.000 hours. The two junior models, G500 and G600, are able to operate at 456W and 576W load, correspondingly, on +12V rail. Two New SSD Series for Corporate Clients from Samsung

Samsung has recently announced the release of two new SSD series, intended basically for the employment in corporate segment (for servers and large data storages). The first series, codenamed SM843, will be represented by models of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacity; the second series, codenamed SM1625, will contain models of 100GB, 200GB, 400GB, and 800GB capacity.



All the models within the series are based on MLC NAND flash-memory, developed under 20 nm technological process. This allowed the company to increase the writing speed index and SSDs durability three times as much, if compared with rival drives and items of the previous generation.


SM843 solid-state drives are designed in 2.5-inch form-factor. They are notable by 28% lower power consumption in active mode and 80% lower retention time.
