MSI Launches Z87 MPower MAX AC Overclocking Motherboard

All PC enthusiasts and overclockers are now able to enjoy all the privileges of a wireless connection thanks to a new release from MSI. The company’s latest addition to Z87 motherboard series – the Z87 MPower MAX AC – might boast the incorporation of Intel Dual Band module that supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0 connections. Moreover, due to the employment of two frequency bands (2.4/5 GHz), the speed of wireless data transfer achieves 867 Mb/sec.

It goes without saying that MSI Z87 MPower MAX AC is based on Intel Z87 Express chipset that supports Intel Haswell CPUs for socket LGA1150. All system components are soldered on a black-and-yellow 6-layer PCB; hardware base is implemented according to MSI Military Class 4 concept. Here, one may find Solid CAP capacitors, Dark Choke throttles, and DrMOS voltage regulators.

The PCB contains four DIMM slots for the installation of DDR3 memory modules (up to 16 GB) with the maximal clock frequency of 3000 MHz. CPU power subsystem, entitled DigitALL, is elaborated in keeping with 20-phase scheme. It is equipped with a digital controller, two 8-pin EPS sockets and one 24-contact ATX connector. Expansion facilities are represented by three PCIe 3.0 x16 and four PCIe 2.0 x1 slots.

To continue, connection with the drives is realized via eight SATA 6 Gb/sec ports and one mSATA, which can be configured in various RAID arrays. Audio facilities run under Sound Blaster Cinema codec with an integrated Audio Boost technology, offering 7.1-channel sounding. Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200 gigabit Ethernet controller monitors network and bandwidth functional.

The rear panel accommodates 6x USB 3.0 ports, 2x USB 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort and one HDMI port, one RJ-45, one PS/2, one S/PDIF, and six standard audio sockets. It should be noted that Z87 MPower MAX AC supports Multi-BIOS II options, V-Check Points for voltage monitoring, Debug LED display, Clear CMOS, Discharge, Go2BIOS, OC Genie, and Direct OC keys.
