AOC AG241QX – Best Monitors for Gamers

Introduction

Many users of desktop computers have been accustomed to the fact that game models of monitors are solutions with a diagonal of 24 to 27 inches, with a resolution of Full HD and a frequency of development from 120 Hz.
The increased resolution not only leads to better picture clarity, but also affects the growth of the loading.

Specifications

The monitor AOC AG241QX uses TN + Film-matrix M238DTN01.0 manufactured by AU Optronics. This is a rare 23.8-inch 8-bit (6-bit + FRC) panel with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels (WQHD standard), a 16:9 aspect ratio and conventional W-LED backlighting without the use of SHI modulation providing color coverage sRGB. The combination of high resolution and a small diagonal led to an increase in the density of pixels to 123 ppi, which is even higher than most modern 4K models, whose screens are usually much larger.
The model fully corresponds to the chosen styling for the AGON series in general, the ergonomics of the stand is maximally developed. The push-button control system is supplemented with a plug-in external unit with eight keys.

For working with peripherals, the manufacturer has provided four USB 3.0 ports - two in different parts of the case. One of them supports fast charging of external devices. In addition, the AG241QX can offer two 3.5-mm audio outputs and an audio input, and this is quite a rare phenomenon. For those who do not intend to use purchased acoustics separately, a simple stereo system with two 3 W speakers is installed in the monitor.

Packaging

The AOC AG241QX monitor is supplied in a small cardboard box with high-quality printing.

The latter can be recognized immediately by the corresponding pictographs with the signatures, and by one of the stickers with the serial number, model identifier, body color (black and red), maximum resolution, working diagonal and production place (China).

The scope of delivery of the monitor includes the following:
• power cable;
• External power supply;
• D-Sub cable;
• DVI-D cable;
• HDMI cable;
• DisplayPort cable;
• USB cable for connecting to PC;
• 3.5 mm audio cable;
• metal adapter bracket for VESA mounting;
• external control unit;
• four fastening screws;
• CD with instructions and drivers;
• plastic ring of the cable management system;
• instructions for attaching the ring to the central rack;
• Quick Setup and Installation Guide.

The kit completely corresponds to the capabilities of the model.

The two-legged metal stand combining several interesting elements,became much more expressive.

The mechanism of fast connection is not provided - the rack is screwed to the body with four screws from the delivery set. They are also used to fasten the metal adapter plate, which you will need if you want to exchange the stand for a 100 × 100 mm VESA bracket.

The system of laying cables seems to be there, but it seems to be there - for this purpose free space is used in the lower part of the central column. There are additional elements of the game style: a retractable plastic headphone holder, a metal handle in the upper part of the central column and a mark of lifting height. We did not see any special meaning in all this, however, most manufacturers believe that in gaming models something like this must necessarily be.

The stand also did not disappoint: you can tilt, rotate, change the height and the ability to turn the monitor into portrait mode (Pivot).

The base of the stand is metal, with three large corrugated rubber legs that prevent the monitor from sliding on the table.

At the top of the monitor AOC AG241QX, behind the lattice-air ducts,  two speakers with a power of 3 watts each are situated. The sound quality is quite low, the maximum volume is at an average level. In other words: nothing outstanding, done rather for a tick.

Control

The AG241QX is controlled using five physical keys located on the bottom of the enclosure. In front there are pictograms, indicating the actions of each of them. The power on / off key is in a common row and is not marked at all - neither by form, nor by the distance from the four managers.

All keys are pressed hard and clearly. The speed of response to user actions and animation in the menu does not cause questions - everything "flies." However, due to the lack of on-screen prompts and backlighting of the control system, changing settings in poor lighting is not so easy. It can be done with the help of a separate control unit found in the delivery package. In addition, it allows you to choose one of the three game modes.

Despite the fact that the AG241QX belongs to a new series of gaming monitors, the design of the OSD menu remained unchanged. When you display the main OSD, a huge area appears on the screen, almost the entire width of the display, with eight sections. In the first one, the user can adjust the contrast, brightness, switch the preset Eco Mode (only the brightness of the backlight changes), change the gamma mode and activate the dynamic contrast.

The new section Game Setting is dedicated specifically for fans to play. In it you can select one of the game modes, adjust the Shadow Control and the additional saturation of the picture, adjust the degree of acceleration of the matrix and turn on the filter of the blue component of the spectrum of illumination (Low Blue Light). It is possible to activate the technology to reduce the delay in the input, although this is not a problem for gaming models of monitors.
