Within the Framework of OCP U.S. Summit 2018 Seagate Technology Introduces the 14 TB Seagate Exos X14 HDD

Currently the Seagate Exos X hard disk drives family contains of two models – the 10 TB Seagate Exos X10 and the 12 TB Seagate Exos X12. These products are constructed for data centres and cloud storages. During the OCP U.S. Summit 2018 event the American manufacturer has introduced its new top-rated HDD of the series mentioned, called Seagate Exos X14. The capacity of the device is 14 TB.

The specialty is produced in a regular 3.5-inch form factor with the PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording) technology applied. Supposedly, the novelty is built on the latest platform utilizing nine 1.55 TB platters. However, this information has not come from the vendor. The spindle rotates at 7,200 rpm.
 
While producing its specialty the manufacturer used the helium filling tech, thus, we may expect relatively low power consumption and reduce of noise, vibration and friction at operation. Seagate Technology is sure, that Seagate Exos X14 offers the highest productivity in its class.
 
An additional positive moment about Seagate Exos X14 is its Seagate Secure technology support, ensuring data encryption without decreasing overall efficiency. At the same time the product meets the FIPS 140-2 (Level 2) and ISO/EIC 15408 standards. Bulk delivery is to take place in summer, but the price is unveiled yet.
