Cooler Master COSMOS C700P: Review of a Heavyweight Champ

Cooler Master Company announced the case for PC which got the name — Cosmos C700P. Flexibility became the main principle of its developing. Due to this a user can place all the components in the case of his free choice.
You can definitely tell that it is Cosmos line as it has metallic handles which became a recognizable feature.
In a weight of 22 kg, it will be interesting to see what the newcomer Cooler Master brought to the ring.

Design

The device comes in a fully colored carton box. You will find an image of the chassis itself at its face, while the rear holds some text lines. Turning the package 90° to the side, there are the enclosure's specifications. This image is essentially a photo of the case to make sure you can define the height of the Cosmos C700P.
Two big foam plastic spacers hold the chassis in place, and a plastic bag has also been applied to prevent the appearance of fingerprints and damage.
The box also contains zip ties, black screws, a piece of cloth for cleaning, some plates for mounting additional parts inside the chassis, and a short, 4-pin RGB lighting connector. Additionally, you will find a manual with an amount of illustrations inside.

A Closer Look

In the case of the C700P, the mounting of the system board can be rotated so that the upward flow of warm air from the vertically positioned video card moves faster, besides, creating a traction effect that improves the cooling of other components. In addition, the design allows you using the mount so that the motherboard and all components are on the right side of the case. Finally, you can completely remove the mount to connect most of the components to the board and only after that fix it in the case.
The case accommodates a board up to E-ATX size and up to eight expansion cards. The 5.25 compartment is removable, which allows a total of 9 or 2.5 or 3.5-inch drives being installed. On the front and back walls, one 140 mm fan is fixed.
In general, there are 12 points in the case for installing 120-millimeter and 140-millimeter fans. Of course, it is possible to put radiators of liquid cooling systems instead of them (on the front wall the radiator is placed up to 420 mm, and on the top — up to 360 mm).
By the way, the maximum permissible height of the processor cooling system is 198 mm. The maximum allowable length of expansion cards is 320mm.
The side panel of the case is made of tempered glass with curved edges. According to the manufacturer, the C700P is the only case on the market with a side panel made of tempered glass of double bend.
Given the quality of the materials so far, it's pretty unfortunate to see plastic used for the front door; it should really be aluminium at this price.
The case is decorated with RGB illumination and is equipped with a USB-C connector. The Cooler Master Cosmos C700P does not only come with a built-in RGB controller as you may also use any motherboard with the appropriate functionality to sync up all the lights from the board, fans, strips, memory, and case. There are seven distinct colors without the built-in controller, or you may set the chassis to sparkle with all the various hues. The useful option with the button on the I/O panel is to simply turn the lights off completely. And it’s really needed if you put the device in your bedroom for example.

Pros and Cons

Thinking about if Cooler Master COSMOS C700P is worthy to buy ($300) you are to consider the following points:

+ Full Modular Design allows having different configurations
+ There is a dual curved glass side panel
+ Motherboards up of 12.3” depth and cards of 19.3” length can be mounted
+ Additional components can be bought
+ There is space for two 3x140mm radiators
+There is a dust filter
+The productivity is on the high level

But, logically, there are some disadvantages as:

— It is quite high priced
— It’s very-very heavy
— Stock configuration supports only three internal drives

Conclusion

Cosmos C700P with unmatched materials, huge space and high price, uncompromisingly searching for an enthusiast with a heavy purse and the desire to build the modern gaming machine or high-performance workstation that works heavily and draws attention at the same time.
Flexibility with respect to the layout depending on what you do and do not include, is also very impressive, and it really looks like the final manifestation that recently the Cooler Master has been progressing.
Nevertheless, it is a reliable update of the Cosmos family that stays true to the classic look, adding many modern details.
