Overview of the Aerocool P7-C1 Mid Tower Case (Part I)

Let’s review the sensational novelty of a Project 7 series – mid tower Aerocool P7-C1, intended for the installation of motherboards of the following form factors: ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX. On sale it appeared as recently as the end of 2016.

The case is supplied in two colors: black and white. Each variant may be purchased either with a standard acrylic window, or with the side panel of tempered glass. Totally, there are four options to choose from.

Packaging and Equipment


The novelty comes in a very large box, with the dimensions of 300x610x510 mm and the weight of ~ 8.5 kg. The package looks attractive enough. On a black background the front panel of the case with the backlight on is shown, and the name of the model is printed with same color. On the front side there is a promotional text in eleven languages, and on the rear one exhaustive specifications are listed in English.

Inside the package, the case is wrapped in a plastic bag and the clips made of polyethylene foam and cardboard are used.

All the necessary components are supplied in a small box made of corrugated cardboard. all the screws, five Velcro systems for cables organization, a speed controller and four fan connectors for LED-backlight are packed in three separate plastic bags.

User’s guide is a booklet of an A5 format with a thick glossy cover. It has twenty-five pages, and all the text is duplicated in eleven languages.

Appearance and Design


The case looks very well with the backlights attracting special attention. One can choose from as many as eight colors and three modes of switching between them: permanent lighting, «breathing» or throbbing.

The front panel is plastic, most of it is tightened with the black metal grid hiding a dust filter and seating for three 120 mm and two 140 mm fans. The latter are not supplied, but can be additionally installed with no difficulties.

The front panel is easy to remove. This solution facilitates access to the dust filter, so it is quite easy to clean it, as well as the grid, from dust. The filter itself is made very soundly; so there is nothing here to find fault with.

The upper panel is made of plastic with the vents tightened with metal grid. The front part is the place for the control unit: headphone and microphone jacks. A card reader of SD, SDHC, SDXC, microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC is placed just under them. Two buttons to select the illumination color and its modes are also placed here, as well as, the emergency reset button and the power button in the middle. The front panel is also a place for two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports. In general, the control unit evokes absolutely positive emotions. The feeling of pressing all the buttons is quite pleasant.

The rear panel is all standard for a lower power supply location layout. Above its seating, seven expansion slots with metal covers are located, as well as a cutout for a motherboard’s communication ports and a 120mm exhaust fan (installed by default).

The case bottom has a power supply vent closed with a dust filter. In addition, it is worth noting that the legs are designed to not worry about ventilation. They are high and wide to provide good air flow and a stable position of the assembled system unit. The dust filter itself is different from the frontal one.

The side panel is provided with an acrylic window; and the door of tempered glass can be purchased separately.

Internal Structure


The Aerocool P7-C1 chassis is made of high quality 0.6 mm thick steel. One of the case peculiarities is a two-section design, so the power supply is completely separated from the rest of the system.

The motherboard compartment is placed above the PSU section. A large cutout in the tray behind the CPU socket allows installing even CPU cooling systems directly into the case using a backplate mount (а thrust-pad located on the reverse side of the card).

The cable management system consists of a large vertical opening and a pair of smaller ones under the upper bound. At first sight everything looks quite comfortable.

The expansion slots’ plugs are screwed, but their aesthetics is improved by the sliding bar, which is secured by two thumbscrews and closes the expansion cards attaching.

On the top of the lower compartment, a pair of rails for solid-state drives (SSD) or hard disk drives (HDD) 2.5 " is located.

On the rear side of the Aerocool P7-C1 a tray opening to access а thrust-pad, as well as cable management system openings, are clearly seen. There is a place for two 3.5" devices in the lower compartment of the case.

Additionally, there are two snaps to install SSDs or hard disks 2.5 " over it; they are attached to the chassis with thumbscrews. As a result, the Aerocool P7-C1 disk subsystem is capable to include four 2.5" storage devices and two 3.5" hard drives. Let’s note that the location for the 5.25" drive is not provided.
