Design and Ergonomics

MX239H is a combination of several quite different materials. Its assembly involves aluminum, glossy plastic, hard plastic coating, and chrome-plated pieces. Despite such finish diversity, the design is rather attractive and does not rouse censures. The stand features a large notch and chrome-plated insertions which evoke sensation of costliness. Asus equipped the model with a built-in ICEPower audio system that consists of two powerful speakers at both sides of the display.

Interface panel isn’t too variegated and involves one VGA, HDMI and audio ports. The same simplicity is applied to the stand. The user is only able to change the display’s tilting. Screen alignment is practically ideal, while swinging of the case is dwindled to a minimum level. Upon the whole, the incorporation of W-LED backlight and an external power supply unit resulted in the reduction of case depth, as well as in reduction of overall power supply.

The model is delivered in a large colorful cardbox with the enumeration of all general parameters on its exterior. Internal set consists of an audio cable, D-Sub cable, HDMI to DVI cable, an external PSU, three power cables for various standards, Quick Startup Guide, and Asus VIP Member Notice book.

Menu and Settings

All control functions are assigned to six sensor keys and ‘Power’ button, all located at bottom-right part of the display. Asus has engraved special inscriptions to each key that speak about their functional. Along with sensor keys, there are physical buttons, serving an indicative means for sensor surface. It should be noted that Main menu employs only four out of the six keys. Rapid access options embrace switching of pre-installed ‘Splendid’ modes, volume and brightness adjustment, enabling of QuickFit networks, and switching of signal sources.

Asus MX239H employs standard to all Asus monitors interface. ‘Color’ section offers brightness, contrast, color temperature, and saturation intensity settings. ‘User’ mode, set by the manufacturer by default, allows adjusting RGB index. ‘Image’ section is accountable for sharpness settings, array overclocking, aspect ratio monitoring, and image focus positioning (on D-Sub activation). ‘Input Select’ section allows selecting a video source, while the last ‘System Setup’ section hides less important settings: volume adjustment, ECO preset activation, settings rearm, and some more. ‘OSD Setup’ subsection contains parameters which adjust design and position of Menu.

Power Consumption

It’s a fact that power consumption level of a monitor greatly depends on brightness settings. Thus, Asus MX239H consumes up to 29 W at maximal 259 nits brightness. Reduction of brightness to 200-100 nits results in power reduction to 24 W and 18 W correspondingly.
