Main Points
MSI introduced the Optix MPG27C and Optix MPG27CQ gaming monitors with a 27-inch VA matrix with a radius of curvature of 1800 mm. The difference between the displays is the resolution of the screen: 1920x1080 pixels for the Optix MPG27C and 2560x1440 pixels for the Optix MPG27CQ.

Externally, the two models look the same, but still there are a number of different features in their characteristics. Both monitors are equipped with curved VA panels with a radius of curvature of 1800 mm, a screen refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of 1 ms. The Optix MPG27C monitor supports 1080p resolution, and the Optix MPG27CQ supports 2560×1440 pixels (WQHD format).

The brightness of the panel is 250 cd/sq. M (400 cd/sq. M for Optix MPG27CQ), the contrast is 3000: 1, the response time is 1 ms, the refresh rate is 144 Hz, the vertical viewing angles - 178 degrees. Monitors provide 100% coverage of  NTSC color space and 115% coverage of sRGB. Monitors are equipped with a customizable LED backlighting PrismSync, video inputs HDMI (2x) and DisplayPort, headphone jacks and a two-port USB hub.

The MSI Optix MPG devices are also the first gaming monitors with built-in GameSense technology.
GameSense technology, developed by SteelSeries, allows you to display important moments of the game with the help of light effects in real time. Thanks to the use of GameSense, the RGB-backlight available on the monitors’ front and back surfaces of the case can be adjusted to react with color changes, switch on/off and other light effects on the events occurring during the game.Among MSI MPG27C and MPG27CQ features a user will find custom crosshair overlays and the ability to access OSD (On-Screen Display) menu settings via a desktop application in addition to the OSD joystick.

A common drawback of the high-contrast VA panels is prominent ghosting where mostly dark pixels are involved. The 1ms MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) speed technology manages to reduce the perceived motion blur and thus offer a more responsive and engaging gaming experience.

Monitors have two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.2 port, a USB 3.0 Type B port, a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones, a Kensington lock, a microphone jack and two USB Type A ports. The monitors can make boast of a reliable stand and have VESA mounting holes.

The ergonomics of the novelty is very good. The user can change the height within 120 mm or change the angle of inclination from -5° to 20° depending on his or her preferences.

The monitors have a set of LED backlights that can be lit in any of the shades and synchronize the light animation with the events in the games. For example, it lights red when you reload the store or blinks when you receive notifications.

The interesting thing you should know is that the MPG27CQ was awarded the CES 2018 Innovation Award. So it’s at some kind a privileged thing.
