Enthusiast-Level Cooler Deepcool Lucifer Review

Deepcool is globally known primarily by the products targeting budget-oriented and mid-level customers. Nonetheless, currently the company strides towards enthusiast-level segment, offering more powerful, more efficient, and more sophisticated devices. CPU cooler with a biblical name Lucifer is a bright example of many-years’ expertise in PC cooling market. It differentiates itself by a solid performance on heat dissipation combined with an alluring price. Let’s take a closer look at the model.

Main Peculiarities

Deepcool Lucifer strikes by the following specifications:
— dimensions: heatsink – 140x110x163 mm, fan – 140x140x25 mm;
— platform compatibility: Intel LGA 2011/1366/115x/775, AMD FM1/FM2/FM2+/AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+;
— heatsink framework: weight – 748 g, quantity of fins – 35, fin depth – 0.5 mm, reference area – 9300 cm2;
— fan specs: type – Gamer Storm, bearing – hydro bearing, PWM support, rotational speed – 700-1400 RPM, airflow – 138 CFM, noise level – 31-50 dB, nominal voltage — +12V, current efficiency – 0.17 A, peak power consumption – 2.04 W;
— shipping contents: user’s manual, Gamer Storm logo, thermal compound, a universal backplate, four rubber pads for the backplate, four screws and four plastic stands, fixtures for Intel and AMD sockets, a rubber pad for Intel LGA 775 socket, four transient pins for Intel LGA 2011 socket, four bolts, and a pair of stapled wire sets.

Framework Details

This CPU cooler enslaves the hearts by an unusual framework: extraordinary shape of heatsink fins (П-shape) and chaotic localization of heatpipes in particular. The heatpipes actually divide the heatspreader into two sections; they are tightly located approximately in the center of each section. The first and fourth pipe are protruded a bit, whereas the others go under the heatsink at right angle. The cooler’s height of 163 mm is supposed to be a critical mark of compatibility for the majority of midi-tower ATX PC cases.

The only aerodynamic optimization of heatsink fins is the availability of multiple rhomboidal notches. They are called to affect the airflow. The reflective base features concentric circles, perceptible by touch. In keeping with the manufacturer, their predestination is to facilitate an equilibrium distribution of thermal compound. Copper heatpipes, fins and the base have got a nickel-plated coating.

The integrated fan embraces nine blades of green color. The frame is made of a rigid rubber, while the landing notches are adopted from 120 mm models. Connection to the PSU is realized via a 4-pin connector. The blades are able to rotate in a wide speed range from the minimal 700 RPM to the maximal 1400 RPM. On 800 RPM mode the fan achieves its comfortable acoustic level of 40 dB.

Mounting Tips

Deepcool Lucifer supports all updated CPU sockets of AMD and Intel platforms. The process of mounting begins from the installation of a backplate. The latter boasts the availability of a non-conducting film. For this, the user needs to twist in the screws into the appropriate socket grommets, which are further on fixed by rubber pads. This component is then mounted onto the motherboard’s reverse side; therewith, the backplate has only one preferable orientation.

Furthermore, the screws are attached to the stands. After this, it’s necessary to apply thermal compound, attach the bracket and screw the cooler. In a customary orientation the system does not prevent the cards in the first PCI-e slot. If the user decides to align the heatsink with the frontwards location of the heatpipes, he/she might expect the heatsink to cover the first two PCI-e slots and the fan to cover the other slots. Thus, RAM modules with high heatspreaders won’t match the layout.
