Asus Unveils GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Black Graphics Card

Asus is about to release another addition to the GeForce GTX 970 series of adapters – the GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Black. This videocard is differentiated by a totally black exterior (including PCB, fans and heatpipes) with bright-red details. Besides, it might boast the implementation of a factory overclocking as well as an advanced cooling system. Asus recommends selling the new-comer at the price tag of about 400 EUR.

Asus GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Black is based on Nvidia Maxwell GM204 GPU with 1664 stream processors, 64 ROPs, and 104 TMUs. It runs at 1114 MHz (nominal)/1253 MHz (dynamic) clock frequencies. The card is equipped with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory (256-bit interface), operating at 7000 MHz frequency. The integrated rear panel accommodates three DisplayPort video ports, one DVI and one HDMI 2.0 ports.

This adapter is thought to support all standard Nvidia’s technologies, DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.4 standards, 4-way SLI technology (2x Nvidia SLI sockets aboard), and PCI Express 3.0 x16 interface. Power supply is organized by means of two 6-pin PCIe Power connectors.

Furthermore, the model features a uniquely designed cooling system, entitled DirectCU II. It is represented by five copper nickel-plated heatpipes, a pair of low-noise fans, and an additional heatspreader on the reverse side of the PCB. Moreover, it supports Direct Contact technology that promotes for a more efficient GPU cooling. As compared with the reference cooler, DirectCU II ensures as much as 20% temperature reduction with three times quieter operation.
