AOC AGON AG271QG – Gaming or Multifunctional?

Nowadays monitors are divided into different types: for home using, for editing photos, gaming monitors etc. The last ones are characterized by the minimum response time of the matrix. AOC AGON AG271QG monitor is one of the best and high-edged gaming monitors and we are going to talk about it in this review.

The box is painted black with the picture of the monitor and stickers with key characteristics on it. Features

You can regulate the position of the monitor by moving it up or down at the stand and by swiveling to the left or right by 20°.

The angle of the screen can be tilted within the limits from -3.5° to 21.5°.
Also it is possible to move it 90° clockwise into portrait mode.

Taking into consideration that the given monitor was made as the gaming one, it’s not a surprise that it’s not 4K. The screen resolution is 2560 x 1440 WQHD.

It’s adapted to the card with the highest values of the fps, and the higher resolution is, the harder the graphics card works. To give more than a hundred fps in the latest games can only the newest graphics card. In general, 4K is more cinematic than gaming format.

The 27-inch monitor is considered to be average these days. This size allows watching the screen from the distance of about 1 meter without missing any details.

The given device can boast of an excellent AHVA-matrix. Its advantage is that it has the speed of TN and the colors of IPS. That’s why AOC AGON AG271QG monitor can be used not only for games and home using, but also for professional editing photos. It turns to be an ideal monitor, doesn’t it?

The AOC AGON AG271QG has an AU Optronics M270DAN02.3 AHVA panel. It's an 8-bit panel capable of displaying 16.7 million colors.

The screen uses a White-LED (W-LED) backlight. It's controlled by direct current (DC).

The screen coating on the AOC AGON AG271QG is light anti-glare.

The monitor is developed with two filters for image processing: Game Color and Shadow Control. Game Color makes the colors more contrast and rich. In games it helps, for example, to locate the enemy or to distinguish important game elements from other background.

Effect Shadow Control serves the same purpose of the enemy detection. In this case, as we can guess from the name, hiding in the shadows. Working as a kind of compressor, strengthening weak variations of shades, the effect compresses the contrast and brightness on the dark parts of the image, allowing you to distinguish objects in the dark without changing the whole brightness and contrast.

The Flicker Free technology is used here to prevent your eyes from being tired after longtime using.

Conclusion

The device has a modest design, a very good ergonomics and a high picture quality. Unfortunately, the power brick is external and the speakers are underdeveloped. Also the consumption of power is high.

To summarize all the features of the given monitor, we are to say that there are both advantages and disadvantages as in every device. But still, it’s a quite serious, multipurpose and high-quality choice both for gaming and simple using.
And for the cutting-edge device, the price is quite low.

The AOC AGON AG271QG gives everything we can expect from a modern 1440p gaming monitor except HDR. Why one should consider it better than Acer Predator XB271HU or Asus ROG Swift PG279Q? Because it’s cheaper — $570.
