Design and Integration

Antec P280 design is developed in a rather traditional style. The casing integration promotes for the chassis functionality and can be applied as in offices, so in home-based systems. This chassis can be employed by customers as the initial-level server due to the internal integration approach and implemented cooling system. Solid side plates are fixed by screws with large heads poured by plastic; this saves the customers from the necessity to use the screw. Side plates are made in accordance with two-layer design template in order to lower the noise level and eliminate vibrations of side faces: 0.8 mm steel in combination with internal trims from polycarbonate. The top panel is void of any elements except for the Startup and Reset buttons. The clipboard has got dual framework: expansion bays and fan grid are covered by the doors which serves the means of noise absorbent.

The upper part of the clipboard accommodates three bays for 5.25-inch external devices. They are characterized by non-screw fixture; the fixture is realized via plastic clutches on the left side. To continue, this segment is also designated for the USB interfaces (two USB 2.0 sockets and 2 USB 3.0 sockets) and two audio slots. The internal part of the front face is intended for the disk bay. The bay's chassis is made not of steel but of plastic, and is able to accommodate six hard drives of 3.5 inch dimensions along with a couple of 2.5 inch drives.

Antec P280 is compatible with expansion cards of 330 mm in length; if there is a need for larger cards, the customer is capable to vacate the cards of up to 47 cm (when the internal disk bay is removed to the side plate).

PSU is localized in the bottom part of the casing and has got dual installation template: the fans can be accommodated as in the upper part, so in the bottom part.

Cooling System

The implemented in Antec P280 cooling system is represented by three low-noise 120 mm fans. The cooling system is located alongside the casing and is totally lotic. The air is blown into the casing from the frontal face and goes through the anti-dust filter. Then it goes through the disk bay and is directed to the processor's cooler and the graphics cards. Further on, the air is blown out outside by means of three fans. One fan is located on the rear plate of the casing, while the two others – on the top plate. It should be mentioned that frontal fans are not stipulated in this chassis; however, there is a possibility for the customer to install the fans in this part of the casing on the integration of high-end systems.
