Monitor Samsung SyncMaster SA950 Review
Samsung never frustrates its devotees when it comes to the release of high-quality products. Monitor segment is not an exception. This summer the company launched a new series of FullHD monitors with ultramodern design and improved ergonomics. SyncMaster SA950 belongs to the senior model lineup and boasts the implementation of brand 3D formation technology which differs from the wide-spread Nvidia 3D Vision one. Upon the whole, this model resembles other 3D monitors, however is able to offer unmatched display facilities and user-friendly control options.
General Peculiarities and Ergonomics
SyncMaster SA950 is based on TN-array and goes with 1920x1080 resolution. The maximal loft frequency approximates 120 Hz. The major peculiarity of this model is that it supports practically any graphics cards and works with any video signal source (that is able to form 3D imaging in side-by-side, frame-by-frame, or interlace modes).
The other distinctive feature of SA950 is its design. It should be stated that the implemented by the company design template puts this model in the limelight among hundreds of similar products. The monitor has got a solid, planar base, one side of which allocates a plastic glossy stand. There are no junctions or fixtures in its framework, since the base, stand and the display are merged into a single unity. Irrespective of such unusual template, the monitor is rather stable due to the base's large area. The display tilting angle can be adjusted by means of a special flexure. The upper part of the stand and rear part of the display are made of aluminum with a bit of husky surface.
All sockets are located on the rear part of the base. The list of digital inputs is represented by HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI sockets, along with output for the headphones. Control buttons are invisible when the monitors is turned off; nevertheless, once the display is turned on, all sensor buttons become visible. They are lighted up by white LED.
The user will find brand glasses in the nominal delivery kit. The glasses are powered by a battery and have got a simplified design. The connection of glasses with the monitor is realized via Bluetooth means; the work range equals to 10 meters. The activation button is located in the upper part of the glasses, while the deactivation doesn't stipulate any manipulations.
Response Time
SyncMaster SA950 can boasts the implementation of three modes pertained to response time: Normal, Faster and Fastest. When the switch is turned on Normal mode the response time proves to demonstrate 8.1 ms in the average, while the maximum exceeds 16 ms; Faster mode shows more decent index: 2.4 ms – 4 ms; Fastest mode shows analogous to Faster one results.
Menu and Facilities
Menu of SA950 model is implemented in a traditional to Samsung monitors style: the list of menu sections takes the left-side position on a display, and section items take the right side. 'Picture' section contains a range of standard settings, as well as, 3D options. 3D options include the choice of methods by which the monitor will form 3D imaging (Frame Seq., 2D-3D, Top-Bottom, Side-by-Side). Hereby, there is no need for the user to install any dedicated driver to enable 3D video. 'Magic' subsection combines all brand technologies: MagicBright – switch of display brightness, MagicAngle – switch of the necessary viewing angle, and MagicColor – intellectual means of color rendition.
'Color' section includes all regular color rendering settings, such as gamut, tone, RGB manual adjustment. 'ECO' section enables the activation of motion detector which identifies whether there is anybody at the monitor or not; if there is no one at the monitor, it turns off automatically.

Level of white 100 kd/square meters is achieved when the brightness is switched to 10 and contract to 30. In 3D mode the brightness lowers to 77 kd/square meters, since it transfers to image interlacing with totally black shots. 'MagicBright' section has got three modes: Standard, Cinema and Game. They are called to improve the imaging and color contrasts.
