PSU Aresze EPS 1200ELA Review

The basic rule of all market relationships claims that demand triggers supply. In this light, practically all businesses work according to such postulate. IT market joins this tendency and supplies those products which are in demand with the community. Power supply units have been in demand since their launch day, and people keep acquiring them in order to satisfy their PC integration needs. As long as there are customers with various financial possibilities, there are PSUs of different ranking: entry level products, middle-class solutions and high-end items. PSU EPS 1200ELA from Aresze belongs to the high-end segment and proposes an efficacious solution for gaming PCs.

Integration and Layout

Aresze EPS 1200ELA is delivered in a large card box with the enumeration of all specifications and illustration of the integrated sockets. The casing is made of thick steel painted in black dull color. The backplate of the PSU accommodates four cables for the power supply of graphics cards (which are equipped with two 6+2 pin sockets) and four cables for the supply of drives and peripheral devices (with Molex and SATA sockets). It should be stated that cable configuration is rather beneficial and allows the user to connect video adapters, as well as other devices without any obstacles. There are three irremovable cables which are connected with the motherboard and ATX24.

This PSU model is based on a solid platform with a substantial notch in the low-voltage aluminum radiator and power semiconductors in low-voltage sector. In the high-voltage sector the manufacturer employs a couple of electrolytes and PFC active throttle. Aresze implemented a partite voltage stabilization: voltage conversion DC-DC plates for +3.3V and +5V channels are located in the notch of the radiator.

Aresze uses traditional for the PSUs integration where the unit is divided into two parts. One part is assigned for low-voltage sector and the other part – for high-voltage sector. Each of the sectors has got large radiators that contains all power semiconductors. At the same time, control components are assigned with a space on a separate circuit board located over the module sockets.

Temperature monitoring on the low-voltage radiator is realized by means of two thermal sensors; the first thermal sensor is connected with the fan rotational regulator, while the second one – with the control board that turns the PSU off in case of overheating. The integrated 140 mm fan produced by Young Lin Tech is designated to provide for the sufficient airflow. It is equipped with the blue LED lighting.

Testing

The initial point to consider is that fan rotational speed directly depends upon the temperature of radiator in low-voltage sector. Testing results demonstrated that the noise level keeps on average margin when the PSU loading is not large (500W-600W). Nevertheless, when the loading is considerable and exceeds the margin of 700W, the noise level becomes obvious and overlaps the noise from power elements produced by graphics card or CPU cooler. On such conditions temperature of power elements equals to 69 degrees, while the power transformer gets 76 degrees.

To continue, Aresze EPS 1200ELA is distinguished by the voltage stability; the fluctuations within +12V channel do not exceed 0.11V. Due to the implementation of separate voltage stabilization, voltage within +5V and +33V channels is barely variable.
