The X2 Pirate 8031 Chassis is Designed for ATX/Micro ATX Based Gaming Systems Construction

The Spire X2 Products company adds a novelty, called Pirate 8031, to its PC cases product range. This Mid-Tower model, performed in black (mostly out of 0.6 mm SECC steel), is aimed at construction of gaming systems, based on ATX or Micro ATX mother boards.



Pirate 8031 weighs around 5.4 kg and possesses such dimensions: 450 × 200 × 490 mm. The front tempered glass panel hides three 120 mm fans with red LED-backlighting behind it. A big side window lets clearly see all inner components.


Inside of this computer case there’s enough room for seven expansion cards. Discrete graphics accelerators of up to 390 mm length can be installed. The chassis can also hold two 3.5-inch storage devices and two 2.5-inch drives. Apart from fans provided customers may mount three 120 mm coolers in the upper part and one 120 mm cooler at the rear. The ultimate CPU cooler’s height reaches 180 mm.

Seagate Launches the 5th Generation FireCuda SSHD

Seagate has expanded its lineup of hybrid drives with the 5th-generation FireCuda SSHD. The greenhorns are based on shingled magnetic recording technology (SMR), rather than perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR). The SMR enables the partial superposition of data tracks; it ensures the ultimate record density. The models are backed by a 5-year’s limited warranty.



Seagate FireCuda series is introduced by 5 models, developed in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch formats. Their capacity varies from 500 GB to 2 TB. The drives employ MLC flash memory (8 GB) as well as SATA 6 Gb/sec external interface. The spindle rotates at 5400 RPM.


The average data read speed makes up 140 MB/sec with 2.5-inch models & 156 MB/sec with 3.5-inch items. The latter offer also up to 190 MB/sec of the average read speed from flash memory; besides, it takes only 8.5-9.5 ms for the chips to search for the needed data on Read/Write operations. To add, the new FireCuda is thought to consume between 1.7-6.7 W power.

Its «heart» is created on 28-nm chip with 1344 GK104 CUDA cores and advanced architecture Kepler. On board there is a 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory with 192-bit and a frequency of 6008 MHz. In fact, core graphics core frequency is 980 MHz, and accelerated by the NVIDIA GPU Boost function value is equal to 1023 MHz.
