Overview of the LogicPower 7777 Case

In the last couple of years, the chassis with the division of the interior into two zones has become very popular. In the lower part, as a rule, there is a power supply unit and drives, and in the upper part – all the other components. Almost all manufacturers now have similar models. This fashion did not pass around LogicPower, where it was embodied in the case of LP 7777 from the Perfect series.

Packing and Delivery Kit

Despite the low cost of the case, it is delivered to the market in an attractive box with color printing. Unfortunately, there are no technical specifications described here. Internal protection against transportation damage is standard – two foam dampers and a plastic bag.

The delivery kit contains no assembly instructions, but it includes the following:

  • • diagnostic speaker;
  • • 4 disposable cable ties;
  • • 3 brass motherboard racks (the remaining six are already screwed into the pallet);
  • • 4 long screws for fixing the fan;
  • • 4 small rifled bushings for fastening hard drives;
  • • 4 screws with a knurled plastic head for fixing hard disks;
  • • 6 case screws with a hexagonal hat;
  • • 13 small screws to fix the motherboard, 2.5" and 5.25" drives.

Outlook

LogicPower LP 7777 outlook is quite all right. The front panel is made of plastic which is visually similar to polished metal. There is a silver logo at the bottom. On the sides there are two narrow ventilating metal grids with round small cells. At the top there are two outputs for 5.25" compartments, covered with solid plugs, and above them external ports, buttons and indicators are located.

The front panel has two USB 2.0 ports, two 3.5 mm audio inputs for the microphone and headphones, a neat square start button, a small round reset button, two power (blue) and drive activity (red) indicators, as well as one USB 3.0 port (the second place is empty and closed with a stub).

Most of the removable left panel is 10-mm high stamping. It has a ventilation grid where two 120-mm propellers can be attached. On the left side of the front panel there is an atavism left two plugs of USB ports and a symbolic image of the equalizer with the inscription HD Audio.

Side door metal, like the one of the whole case, is quite thin. The situation is partially saved by large stamping and stiffening ribs which are sufficient to prevent the panel from twisting during installation. The door has a handle to facilitate dismantling and is fixed by two screws with a plastic knurled head.

The right panel has stamping as well; it gives additional space for laying cables behind the motherboard pallet.

The top panel is completely metal and not removable. In its rear part there is a ventilation grid covered with a metal dust filter.

The filter is magnetic which is not typical for the chassis of this price range; it is securely fixed to and can be easily dismantled. One 120- or 140-mm propeller can be installed on the air grid.

The rear panel view is standard, as for the chassis with the power supply bottom location. At the top there is a convex ventilation grid with elongated mounting holes where one 120 mm fan can be installed and adjusted in height. PCI expansion slots are seven. The upper slot is closed with a reusable solid plug, and all the others – with vented disposable plates. The hole to the right of the slots is covered with a decorative plastic cover which is held by two latches, but, if necessary, can be fixed with a screw. Power supply landing holes allow orienting it with a fan down or up.

In the front part of the case bottom there is a ventilation grid located in the area of hard drives fastening. In the middle, double oblong holes are made. Their most probable usage is fastening the power supply stop, but it is not implemented in this model. In the back there is the power unit ventilation grid covered with a metal filter.

Plastic legs with rubber dampers have are 17 mm high and fairly stably keep the chassis from slipping. The dust filter is removed with some difficulty since the retaining fasteners are placed on all sides, so the case needs to be tilted to the side to get to the filter.

Internal Organization

The LogicPower LP 7777 case supports vertical installation of ATX, MicroATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. The permissible height of the processor cooler is 165 mm. If the cooler falls into the side door stamping plane, its height can be increased to 174 mm. The length of expansion cards in all slots reaches 380 mm without front fans installed. The length of the power supply unit must not exceed 220 mm for comfortable mounting under the casing. It seems that the most large-sized components will comfortably fit here.

The space under the top panel to the edge of the motherboard is 30 mm. This makes it possible to install one 120- or 140-mm fan here, even with the system assembled, and all the upper motherboard sockets can be connected without any efforts.

On the rear panel there is a seat for one 120-mm fan. Attachment of expansion cards to slots is carried out using conventional screws.

The case bottom part is closed by a non-removable cover. Actually, there is no separation of thermal zones since in the upper part of this partition has two large ventilation grids with the possibility of mounting two 120-mm propellers (long screws will be needed). And in front there are slots with deflectors that divert air from the hard drives. So, the cover plays a decorative role and strengthens the overall rigidity of the chassis.

There are no baskets in the front part of the case and this is good in terms of ventilation. On the front grid two 120 mm fans can be installed from the inside. At the top there is the possibility of attaching two 5.25" devices (instead of the top fan). If there is a need to install liquid cooling system here, it will be possible to dismantle the mounting strip of 5.25" compartments (it is fixed by two conventional screws).

There is enough space for laying cables behind the motherboard pallet; it varies from 14 to 24 mm. The cut-out under the CPU cooler amplifying plate is relatively small and clearly not suitable for each variant of the socket location. There are also eyelets for cable ties and holes for wire pulling, but when installing a full ATX board, most of these cut-outs will be closed. In the left part of the pallet there are two sets of holes where two 2.5" drives can be fixed either horizontally or vertically. The holes near these seats are not overlapped by the motherboard, so most cables will be routed through them.

The compartment for installing the power supply is large enough. It can easily accommodate a PSU with a length of up to 220 mm, and it is also possible to connect modular cables after the installation of standard 160-mm power sources. There are no dampers for the PSU here.

For 3.5" hard drives there are two seats in the front basket. To mount the drive here, to its left (if viewed from the side of the sockets) two special bushings are screwed. Then the disk is pushed into the sled and screwed to the right side with two knurled screws. There is no isolation from vibrations here.

The front panel is easily dismantled; however, care must be taken not to cut off the wires attached to it.

At the front part of the case, three 120-mm fans at once can be installed. The lower propeller is designed to purge the hard drives basket, and it can only be installed from the outside with the help of long screws. The middle propeller can be placed both from outside and inside, it will be held on the screws. The upper one is installed in the same way as the middle fan. However, its upper openings are located on a disposable plug of 5.25" compartments, and after its dismantling, the installation of a propeller here is impossible.

The set of cables includes a single USB 3.0 socket, USB 2.0 socket, HD-Audio socket, start and reset wires, drive activity and system power indicator wires. The wires are of sufficient length for normal connection to the motherboard sockets.

Assembly

The process of assembling the system in the LogicPower LP 7777 case is quite comfortable. All the components have open and direct access; all fans can be installed after the systems are assembled.

The cables fit normally and do not interfere with closing the side panels. As expected, most of the holes for cable pulling overlap, and the cut-out for the amplifying plate does not match the position of the Intel LGA 2011 processor socket, however, in this case it is not so important. The main difficulties arise with the installation of motherboard racks. In the rest, the chassis is very convenient to assemble.

The LEDs of the system’s power and the activity of the drives indicators are bright when viewed at a right angle. And it is better to glue these bulbs with translucent tape, or not to connect them at all.

Сonclusions

The LogicPower LP 7777 case is a very good option of a budget chassis for assembling medium power systems. Among its advantages is worth noting the good capacity, the ability to install a large number of fans, the convenience of assembly and nice appearance. As one of the shortcomings the absence of pre-installed propellers is to be mentioned, but still this is more of a plus, since the user himself is able to choose a propeller for ones taste and purse.

The main shortcoming is weak supply ventilation which is caused by excessively narrowed and clamped air intake grids of the front panel. The secondary weakness of the case is the thin metal of the frame and side walls, but this is just in order to reduce the cost of the final product.

LogicPower LP 7777 is an interesting alternative to products from famous brands in case if there is a desire to save and the case is not a priority component in the system being assembled.
