The SilverStone FPS01 Device Returns the Optical Drive Bay into Game

Optical carriers are not popular anymore. Nowadays they are mostly used as license movies carriers, and not as user data storage media. SilverStone offers an alternate variant for those having an unexploitable optical drive of the Slim type.



The new device, called FPS01, is released in two variants, which differ in USB types only: the SST-FPS01 model offers a pair of standard А type ports, and SST-FPS01-C possesses only one С type port. FPS01 is compatible with the standard 12.7 mm Slim ODD optical drive bay and is installed in place of the needless DVD or Blu-ray bay. Though this is not the whole scope of the module’s functionality.


This device features the built-in SD and microSD card reader supporting SDHC and SDXC cards, and the place to install M.2 drive with 6 Gbps SATA interface of 2280 typical size. Unfortunately, the use of FPS01 in laptops can bring some trouble as far as there’s a need to connect the module through standard Molex jacks, USB 3.0 and SATA. …

Gigabyte is about to launch another representative to Brix series of mini-PCs. The GB-BSi5HAC-6300 is an optimal solution for home & multimedia systems. The greenhorn is differentiated by a compact, stylish design (119.4x112.6x46.8 mm dimensions) that fits any environment. It is based on Intel Core i5-6300U CPU (15 W) that operates 2.4 GHz frequency but might overclock to 3.0 GHz index. It is attended by Intel HD Graphics 520 that runs at 300-1000 MHz frequency.

EK Water Blocks Introduces the First Water Block for AMD X470 Based Mainboards

The EK Water Blocks company, specializing in liquid cooling systems and relating components production, presents its EK-FB ASUS Strix X470 RGB Monoblock unit.

 

In the words of the Slovenian vendor, this water block is the first device, intended for system cards, built on the AMD X470 chipset. Specifically, the novelty is aimed at the Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming model and is designed to transfer heat away from the processing unit, mounted into the AM4 socket, and adjacent voltage controllers of the power supply subsystem. One should note that, owing to low hydraulic resistance, EK-FB ASUS Strix X470 RGB Monoblock may be utilized even with low voltage pumps.

 

This EKWB product has a copper nickel-plated base and a transparent acrylic cover. It also features full-colour backlighting, supporting the Asus Aura Sync technology.
