Two New Pocket-Size External Drives from HGST

HGST, a company that has been acquired by Western Digital, is going to gladden its devotees by a couple of external drives, codenamed G-Technology G-Drive mini and G-Technology G-RAID mini. Both models are characterized by a pocket-size design and distinguish themselves as the world's first serial devices employing 2.5-inch hard drive with the total of 1TB capacity. This is, indeed, an incredible property that can't be currently beaten by any rival product. Besides, the spindle implemented in the hard drive develops the speed of 7200 RPM.



Model G-Technology G-RAID mini features 149x83x38 mm dimensions and contains two hard drives of 2.5-inch standard. Each of the drives goes with 1TB capacity (the total capacity is 2TB). A New Cost Effective Graphics Card from GIGABYTE – GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile D4 2G

The GIGABYTE vendor adds a new cost effective GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile D4 2G (GV-N1030D4-2GL) graphics card to its products range. It is performed in a low-profile form factor to meet the needs of those, eager to assemble a space saving system.

 

The novelty is based on the NVIDIA GP108-300 graphics engine supporting 384 CUDA cores, 24 TMUs and 16 ROPs. In the meantime, its clock frequencies are lower than benchmark rates in the Gaming mode (1,151/1,379 MHz), and in the OC Mode the figures are 1,177/1,417 MHz. Note, that regular frequencies are 1,227/1,468 MHz.

 

The memory subsystem is distinguished due to the usage of DDR4 microchips instead of standard GDDR5. Total capacity (2 GB) and width of a bus (64 bit) are left without modifications, the frequency claimed, however, is 2,100 MHz. The reference version video memory features the 6,008 MHz effective velocity.

NEC launches ultrabook based on Core i7 weighting 875g

Japanese company NEC has prepared a unique laptop VersaPro UltraLite VG for state market of the rising sun. The use of light materials and advanced components has reduced the weight of a 13.3-inch laptop up to 875g total.



The body of ultrabook is made of magnesium-lithium alloy and has thickness of 14.9 mm. The product is designed for business travelers who need high performance in small form factor. The «heart» of the laptop is dual-core Core i7-3517U (Ivy Bridge), operating at a frequency of 1.9 GHz to 3 GHz, depending on the load. To it was joined by 4 GB of RAM SO-DIMM DDR3 and a 128-gigabyte SSD-drive. Built-in Intel HD graphics 4000 (350/1100 MHz) will provide an opportunity to play casual games on the screen with a resolution of 1600x900 pixels and LED-backlit display. Windows 7 Professional OS is installed on this ultrabook.
