GEIL DDR4 SUPER LUCE RGB Review: Black or White?

Introduction
All over the world this company is well known to computer enthusiasts, first of all, as a professional manufacturer of RAM. In the assortment of the company, we are interested in the DDR4 Super Luce modules from the Gaming Series. In the design of these kits, iLUCE Thermal-beaming technology is used, the main purpose of which is to visualize the temperature regime of the modules. The rate of pulsation of the illumination varies with the increase of the temperature. The models are equipped with illumination of various colors.
The manufacturer has kits from two or four modules with a volume of 4, 8 and 16 GB. The frequencies of the sets are from 2133 to 3866 MHz. Also, you can choose options for highlighting: blue, red, white or RGB. But this is not all: there are modules with both black and white textolite. In addition, the radiator itself can be black or white. These options within a single line can not be found at all manufacturers.

Packaging

The RAM kit comes in a plastic blister with a cardboard colored cover. On the front side there is a large window in the form of a radiator demonstrates the design of one of the modules. Below there is a glossy inscription which says "Super Luce RGB" on the background of active backlighting.
A plastic inner casing keeps the DIMM in the box in place. There's just the plastic and the sticks and nothing else (no instructions, case badge etc.).
On the reverse side there are two more windows that allow you to see the serial numbers of all the memory slots. Here on the box there is a sticker with the characteristics of the kit.

Under the cover there is a plastic blister which fixes the memory modules reliably. No documentation is provided. You can find out about the possibilities of lighting by temperature demonstration only on the manufacturer's official website.

Design and specifications
The peculiarity of the external appearance of the standard slats of RAM is undoubtedly given by radiators. Over the set of Geil DDR4 Super Luce RGB designers worked well.

The radiator is made of two metal halves, which are not bonded together. They are held on the memory modules due to the thermal pads with glue base.

The volume of each module is typed by eight chips of 1024 MB. The layout is one-sided. The chips are marked as 7FB75 by Micron Technology.

At equal cost with the popular sets from Corsair and Kingston companies with identical characteristics, the kit from Geil can make them a strong competition due to additional features. One of them is the RGB-backlight with iLUCE Thermal-beaming technology. In addition, the Super Luce RGB kit has an XMP profile for operation at a frequency of 2400 MHz and a high overclocking potential.
The backlight is made with a wave effect of iridescent colors from the bottom to the top.

We can also note the absence of an additional profile for the minimum frequency of 2133 MHz, many processors and motherboards operate at this frequency.

Advantages:
+Good overclocking potential;
+The presence of an XMP profile;
+Energy efficiency;
+Presence of RGB-illumination with visualization of temperature changes;
+Lifetime warranty;
+Affordable price.

Disadvantages:
-High cost of entry
-Performance gains on some platforms/usage-models are limited
-RGB LED adjustments require ASUS motherboard
