The Kingston UV500 SSD Series Offers Devices, the Capacity of Which Reaches 1.92 TB

Kingston Digital reported beginning of UV500 family SSDs deliveries. These devices possess a SATA interface and are compatible with desktop computers, workstations and laptops.

 

The storage units are available in 2.5-inch, M.2 2280 and mSATA form factors. In the first case the capacity claimed is 120, 240, 480, 960 GB and 1.92 TB. M.2 2280 SSDs are represented in 120, 240, 480 and 960 GB modifications. mSATA modules offer 120, 240 or 480 GB of volume for data storing.

 

Kingston drives rely on 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips and the Marvell 88SS1074 controller. The average error-free running time (MTBF) stated is 1 mln hours. The sequential write speed varies in the range of 320–500 MBps, which depends on the model. The sequential read velocity comes to 520 MBps with all samples. Gigabyte Unveils GA-E2100N Motherboard with SoC

Gigabyte has replenished its line of mini-ITX motherboards with a new remarkable model: the GA-E2100N. The product is targeting the segment of small-sized desktops or home media systems. It is based on AMD Kabini platform for Socket AM1 and equipped with AMD E1-2100 SoC with passive cooling solution. Featuring 170x170 mm, the board offers the whole range of facilities any modern full-sized model avails.



The integrated into Gigabyte GA-E2100N chip comes with an in-built Radeon HD 8210 graphics core with the support for DirectX 11.1 standard and with 1 MB of L2 cache. The chip operates at 1 GHz frequency, consuming not more than 9 W power. SoC is accompanied by two slots for the installation of up to 32 GB DDR3 memory modules with the maximal frequency of 1333 MHz.

WD to Release an Updated My Book Live Duo Cloud Storage

Western Digital is going to release an updated version of a high-end cloud storage entitled My Book Live Duo. The new-comer is equipped with a pair of hard drives, joined in RAID configuration, and serves simultaneously as a network storage and a secure remote storage. The customers will be able to choose between 4 TB, 6 TB and 8 TB models which are backed by a 2-year’s limited warranty. The release is scheduled for August 2014.



My Book Live Duo features 165x157x99 mm dimensions and weighs 2.26 kg. It is based on 800 MHz processor and shows compatibility with PC and Mac systems. Furnished with WD Red drives, it supports RAID 0 and JBOD storage configurations, as well as RAID 1 – mirror redundancy mode; the latter employs one part of capacity for storing the user’s information, the second one – for backup of this information.
