Greeting PowerColor Radeon R9 290X New-Generation Graphics Cards

PowerColor has officially introduced a pair of high-efficiency graphics cards developed on the new-generation Radeon R9 290X series adapters. Codenamed PowerColor Radeon R9 290X, both new-comers support the latest graphics technologies, i.e. DirectX 11.2 and OpenGL 4.2. The models feature a totally identical design, still there is one differentiation: one of the models is equipped with a key to Battlefield 4 game. Such ‘bonus’ has resulted in a bit heightened price of $580, if compared with the standard model that costs $550.

Both cards are based on AMD Hawaii XT chip. It has been dynamically overclocked by PowerColor to 1030 MHz, whereas the nominal clock frequency remained the same – 800 MHz. In order to enhance the performance, the GPU has been supplemented with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory with 512-bit interface that runs at 5000 MHz.

To proceed with the specifications, both graphics adapters accommodate four rear video ports (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-I, and DVI-D). …

Encouraging Forecasts for Ultrabooks

Notebooks and netbooks, which have been the pioneers in the field of portative devices in the recent past, are now considered to be regular gadgets available practically for all people. IT market is oversaturated with the offers from different companies that produce those devices. Growing competition makes those companies invent new strategies in the development of notebooks, providing customers with more impressive performance and stunning design. The end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 was marked by the launch of new notebook generation, the generation of ultrabooks. The mass production of ultrabooks is prognosticated for the mid 2012.

The developers of portative devices took the challenge to combine the functional characteristics of ultrabooks with their ultrafine design. Such companies as HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, and Asustek can be called the pathfinders in this technological sphere and their masterpieces have seen the light already in the end of 2011. The representatives of …

Video card – a key component of the hardware base of stationary and mobile PC devices. She is responsible for converting the graphic data image and the image displayed on the monitor screen. Simply put, it allows us to enjoy high quality photos, videos, movies and gaming applications, as well as to work with complex graphical data, with screens of home PCs or laptops.

Of course, like other components of a PC system, without a "smart driver" driver set - this card is just a useless piece of iron. Driver for video card connect computer operating system with the hardware of the device and automatically configure it to work. Without them even the most powerful card will be considered by the system as a standard graphics adapter, and that means neither high productivity nor wealth of colors, no detail, no sharpness, alas, we can not see.

In the evolution of systems of graphic information output, the concept of "graphics" has been transformed. Now by this term we mean a device with a GPU (eng. GPUgraphics processing unit) accelerator, whose responsibilities include not only the formation of a graphic image, but its treatment – for example, rendering graphics pipeline in hardware. Moreover, most modern adapters GPU often takes on some of the functions of the CPU (eng. CPUcentral processing unit), often computing, for solving non-graphical problems.

Due to its multitasking and multi-functional nature, the GPU is able to provide unprecedented productivity and performance in the most "demanding" games (if you download the correct driver for the graphics card), excellent colour reproduction and image acceleration video transmission in movies with high resolution and fine granularity of fragments in professional graphics applications.

But all this is possible only under the condition that the "brains" of the video card are updated regularly. Installing and updating drivers ensures that integrated graphics card will be able to effectively perform a wide range of unique features and, of course, to delight us with original visual effects.
