Meet a Pair of High-Efficiency M6 and M.2 SSDs from Plextor

Plextor, an established data storage manufacturer from Japan, announces the release of two new solid-state drive series – the M6 and the M.2. Both new-comers are marked by some outstanding efficiency facilities and completely new design. The M6 SSDs are developed in 2.5-inch design but are housed in ultrathin aluminum cases of 5 mm depth only. They are based on Marvell 88SS9187 controller and MLC NAND flash-memory of Toggle type (19 nm technological process).



The M6 drives feature high-speed SATA III 6 Gb/sec interface and support Plextor TrueSpeed technology. It should be noted that these SSDs are thought to support up to 1 GB RAM – DDR2-800 or DDR3-800 — used as cache. With the attempt to satisfy the needs of diverse customer audiences, Plextor is going to release the M6 modifications: M6 Pro models for high-performance tasks and M6S for ordinary users.

MSI has finally gladdened its gaming fans with a new ‘golden’ graphics card, entitled GTX 970 Gaming 4G Golden Edition. The model is based on Nvidia’s GM204-200-A1 GPU (Maxwell architecture) with 1644 CUDA cores, 104 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 13 SMM units. Connection with visual devices might be realized via dual DVI ports, a single HDMI, and one DisplayPort.



Thanks to the support of MSI Gaming App, users are free to select one of the working modes: Silent, Gaming or OC. Each of them is differentiated by nominal and dynamic clock frequencies, Hereby, in Silent mode this adapter runs at 1051 MHz/1178 MHz (nominal/dynamic); Gaming mode provides for 1140 MHz/1279 MHz frequency, while OC allows increasing both indices up to 1165 MHz/1317 MHz correspondingly.


The integrated GPU cooperates with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory (256-bit interface, 224 Gb/sec throughput index). Its nominal clock frequency makes up 1751 MHZ, but its efficient index rises up to 7010 MHz.

The EVGA Co. introduced GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid Gaming, which is its latest graphics card.



The remarkable point about this product is the presence of the hybrid cooling system, incorporating the nonmaintained system with a 120 mm fan for GPU and memory chips chilling and a casing with a fan for cooling power subsystem elements heatsinks.


The iCX technology applied involves the use of nine thermal sensors, exactly indicating various adapter parts overheating. The hybrid cooling system lets decrease the GPU temperature by 35 degrees, and the memory temperature — by 30 degrees comparing with the reference sample.
