The Advanced Cubieboard6 Singleboard PC Is Based on the 4-year Old Model, Though, It Has Refined Components

A new model, namely Cubieboard6, has joined the Cub ieboard singleboard PC family, which emerged 5 years ago. The novelty is of the same size (100 х 60 х 18 mm) as the previous model, the component layout is unchanged; however, parts themselves are updated.


Cubieboard6 is based on the SoC Actions S500, as well as the 28 nm technology. It offers four Cortex-A9 cores and the PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM is supplemented with the 8 GB eMMC module. Cubieboard6 has a microSD slot and a 6 Gbps SATA port. The wireless Ampak AP6212 module supports Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0; there is also an HDMI 1.4b video output, two USB 2.0 ports and a Fast Ethernet networking port.


2 x 48pins headers make I2C, MIPI CSI, ADC, CVBS, RGB, LVDS, MIPI DSI, SPI, HSIC, GPIO and other buses available. The device is powered via USB 2.0 or 2-pins header for 3.7 V Li-Po battery.

Asus has replenished its graphics card series based on Kepler architecture with a brand variation of one-chip GeForce GTX 680 adapter. Brand Asus GeForce GTX 680 card has been developed on an original in design circuit board and is notable by the doubled to 4GB GDDR5 memory capacity. Nevertheless, the most outstanding characteristic of a new product is the implementation of a two-slot cooling system, codenamed DirectCU II. Earlier Asus equipped its GeForce GTX 680 adapters with three-slot coolers.



The company decided to concentrate mainly on the introduction of an uncommon cooling system, leaving all frequency showings identical to the recommended by Nvidia index. Thus, graphics core operates at 1006 MHz frequency, while memory module works at 6008 MHz. Memory chips are soldered on both sides of the circuit board. The reverse side of PCB is covered by an aluminum plate that is in direct contact with GDDR5 chips.
