Nvidia Debuts with GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Adapter

Trailed by the flagship GeForce GTX 780 model, Nvidia officially launches one more high-performance graphics adapter of 700 series, codenamed GeForce GTX 770. Albeit the two products are rather similar in design (i.e. the incorporation of identical two-slot cooling system), their layout differs considerably. First of all, GTX 770 employs less efficient graphics core Nvidia GK104-425-A2 (28 nm) with 1536 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. At the same time this GPU operates at higher frequencies: 1046 MHz (nominal), 1085 MHz (dynamic).

Nvidia’s new entry comes either with 2 GB or 4 GB video memory modules of GDDR5 type. They employ 256-bit interface and ensure high bandwidth of 224 Gb/sec. Memory operational frequency is truly striking, demonstrating up to 1752 MHz (nominal) and up to 7010 MHz (dynamic) index. It should be noted that models with 4 GB modules will cost $50 more than those with 2 GB items (the recommended price makes up $399).

To continue, GeForce GTX 770 features PCI Express 3.0 interface and is powered by two additional power connectors: 6-contact and 8-contact. Its overall TDP level is estimated as 230 W. The panel of external interfaces includes a pair of DL-DVI ports, one DisplayPort 1.2 and one HDMI.

According to internal testing results, GTX 770 efficiency level is 65% higher than that recorded with GTX 570, and 22% than that recorded with GTX 670. In SLI mode, a pair of GTX 770 adapters might demonstrate a stable efficiency increase, which should rise up 75% in the majority of contemporary gaming benchmarks.

Similar to the predecessor, the new-comer is thought to support a list of up-to-date technologies and instructions, involving OpenGL 4.3, DirectX 11.1, Shader Model 5.1, and a range of brand facilities: TXAA, FXAA, Blu-Ray 3D, Surround, Adaptive VSync, SLI.
