Design and Integration
Design is what singles out Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 670 HerculeZ 3000 from other graphics cards in high-end segment. Its voluminous cooling system that consists of three large fans, its height that equals to three expansion slots, and its ornamental metallic elements with huge screws speak of grandeur and reliability. The overall length of the card achieves 29 cm. Large heatsink covers all basic components of the printed circuit board. The rear part of the board accommodates an additional board with a power supply controller. Upon the whole, this graphics card is furnished with a standard set of video outputs, including two DVI, a single HDMI and one DisplayPort outputs.
Printed circuit board is developed according to the template of reference GeForce GTX 680. One of the promising features is that all five phases in GPU power supply subsystem are fully realized. One of the power sockets is 8-contact, while standard GeForce GTX 670 employs two 6-contact sockets. Graphics subsystem is represented by GPU GK104-325-A2. PCB contains eight soldered Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR R0C chips, the overall volume capacity of which approximate 2GB. One more controller is soldered on the rear part of the board.
The nominal delivery set of Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 670 HerculeZ 3000 contains DVI to D-Sub adapter, CD with dedicated drivers, 2 Molex to PCI-Express 6-pin adapter, G-like screwer, and additionally, a mouse mat with a certified code to 3DMark 11 Advanced Edition.
The integrated heatsink is notable for large dimensions; its length exceeds the printed circuit board's length and is characterized by a curve at the edge. The heatsink itself consists of two sections and an abundance of plates. Its base features a solid nickeled plate that dissipates heat off the GPU and then distributes it by five heat pipes. The fans are covered by a shroud made of plastic. The fans are manufactured by Colorful. A central fan features 92 mm dimensions, while both side fans feature 80 mm.
The nominal GPU clock frequency claimed by Inno3D equals to 1020 MHz, but in Boost Clock mode this index rises to 1098 MHz. The nominal memory frequency has been increased from 6008 MHz to 6212 MHz. Both types of frequencies reduce to 324 MHz and 648 MHz correspondingly in standby mode. Testing results in high-performance applications showed that GPU frequencies exceed the nominal figures and reach 1254 MHz. At the same time, the temperature does not surpass the measure of 64 degrees when GPU works on high frequencies.
