New Enterprise-Class SSDs P420m from Micron

Micron Technology, a well-known designer of RAM modules and solid-state drives, finally launches a new enterprise-class series of SSDs. Codenamed P420m, the new-comers are the true followers of P320h drives, but they are ready to offer more than their predecessors. According to Micron, its new entries feature voluminous capacities and ensure high reliability; however, their price range is far more reasonable than other corporate-class products.

SSDs P420m come in two variations: as standard 2.5-inch drives with PCI Express x4 interface or as HHHL (half-height half-length) expansion cards with PCI Express x8 interface. Both species are based on MLC NAND flash-memory, developed under 25 nm technological process. They support a brand XPERT technology (Extended performance and enhanced reliability technology) that ensures genuine reliability and prolonged lifespan. On conditions of daily employment (i.e. wholesome fourfold rewriting operations), the MTBF index makes up five years. … …

New Video Accelerators from AMD Will Be Based on Vega 10 Chips

According to available information, AMD will introduce two new lines of graphics accelerators next quarter. Those are Radeon RX Vega and Radeon RX 500.

Radeon RX Vega will be constructed with Vega architecture based GPU, and Radeon RX 500 will inherit accelerators, built on renamed Polaris series chips, which are well-known due to Polaris 12 chips and Radeon RX 400 cards. It is also reported, that latest driver packages for Linux contain an ID list of devices, designed with a Vega 10 graphics engine.

The data obtained indicate, that in the short term seven devices will be equipped with the Vega 10 chip. In particular, these products will include Radeon RX Vega video cards, alongside with high-end Radeon Instinct and Radeon Pro WX families accelerators.

Please note, that the Radeon RX 500 official announcement is expected to take place on the 18th of April, and Radeon RX Vega will be presented during the Computex 2017 event, which is planned to be conducted in Taipei …

Gigabyte Outs a Pair of GT 710 Graphics Cards

Gigabyte has just announced the release of two entry-level graphics cards (with 1 GB or 2 GB DDR3) based on Nvidia’s GeForce GT 710 adapter. The company’s elaboration boasts the implementation of Ultra Durable 2 design that combines top-quality hardware base, reliability and high performance. The card comprises an improved PCB with the best-in-class solid-state capacitors, transistors as well as ferrite chokes.

Despite low-profile orientation, Gigabyte GeForce GT 710 employs active cooling system. The latter consists of a small-sized heatsink and a fan. In terms of efficiency, the company decided to preserve etalon showings; hence, the GPU (GK208, Kepler architecture, 192 CUDA cores) operates at 954 MHz frequency. Yet, the models come equipped with an overclocked memory: 900 MHz/1800 MHz (base/dynamic) frequency.

The kit of external interfaces includes three video ports: D-Sub, DVI-D & HDMI. Moreover, the nominal delivery set contains OC Guru II software package. It …
