Toshiba will increase the capacity of hard drives up to 600 terabytes

Toshiba is engaged in improving the existing hard drives in order to increase their capacity. Limited to several tens of terabytes, Japanese do not want to stop — they need at least 600 terabytes in a single 3.5-inch drive. To do this, Toshiba uses all the tools and opportunities, including temporary cooperation with companies, competitors, TDK, and Showa Denko KK.



The newly formed trio of producers focuses on the development of new technologies of recording information on magnetic media and improvement of existing methods. Alliance sees great prospective in the technology of the so-called «two-dimensional magnetic recording» (TDMR). It is experimental, but using, it is quite achievable to record density of 10 terabits per square inch, which thus gives the capacity of 600 terabytes in a single hard drive.


Of course, no one talks about the chances of such a capacious storage in the foreseeable future — Toshiba and its partners will have more than one year of research …

Gigabyte Unveils Middle-End Radeon R7 265 OC Edition Graphics Card

Gigabyte has recently announced the release of its first graphics card based on Radeon R7 265 adapter. The Gigabyte Radeon R7 265 OC Edition comes with operational overclocking and a powerful WindForce 2X cooling system. Still, it is attributed to the middle-end products with an average performance. The model will be available for customers in late March for the recommended price of $170.



This graphics card is developed on AMD Pitcairn Pro GPU (GCN, 28 nm) that embraces 1024 stream processors, 32 ROPs, and 64 TMUs. The core runs at the nominal 1008 MHz frequency but can be overclocked to 1036 MHz margin. Video memory section is represented by 2 GB of GDDR5 memory modules (256-bit interface); they operate at 1400 MHz/5600 MHz frequency (nominal/efficient) respectively.

MSI adds new all-in-one PC, entitled Gaming 27, to its product line. Despite being a small-sized solution with a thin frame, the model employs a highly-efficient hardware base that is thought to support the most demanding games.
