Promising Speed Forecasts for AMD Radeon 8000 Sea Islands

AMD is continuing its work on the new GPU generation codenamed ‘Sea Islands’. The new series is prognosticated to be released in the coming winter. All the products with this GPU will be branded Radeon 8000. AMD manufacturers claim that their new graphic processing units will be 40% more efficient due to the implemented advanced technologies. There is not so much news about the future GPU architecture, although cardinal changes are barely possible.

Sea Islands chips will be equipped with 5.1 billion transistors as compared with the current 4.3 billion items applied in the products. This augmentation will facilitate the increment of efficiency. The chips will be developed according to the already tried-and-proven 28 nm technological requirements. The increase of transistors is not as large due to the adherence to the ascribed norms. It should be underlined that the implementation of the old technologies does not imply the considerable warming up of the chips; the developments …

XFX Demonstrates the Photo of Its Latest Radeon RX Vega Video Card

Being the AMD partner, the American XFX Co. has recently shared the earliest photos of its Radeon RX Vega video card variant. Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn’t indicated the model depicted, however, regarding the presence of 6-pin and 8-pin connectors, we may assume we are looking at Radeon RX Vega 56.

At first sight this product (which is not released yet) possesses a huge cooling system, consisting of a two-section aluminium heat dissipator, copper heat pipes and a pair of ~90 mm fans. One should mention, that the length of the PC-board is only half the length of the graphics adapter, that’s why auxiliary power jacks are located right in the middle, not on the edge of the card.

At the rear the novelty features a metal backplate. In all likelihood, the XFX logo is supplied with the red LED-backlighting.

The Radeon RX Vega 56 (?) specialty approximate launch date remains yet in petto.

Meet U2477PWQ Monitor with 4K Resolution from AOC

As a rule, manufacturers introduce 4K Ultra HD resolution to 27-inch or even larger monitors. AOC decided to break the rules by incorporating 3840x2160 pixels into its newest 23.6-inch display, entitled U2477PWQ. Having in disposal less screen area, the pixels are located more densely to provide for the high-quality imaging. Along with a huge visibility area, the model features 16:9 aspect ratio to further improve visual representation.

AOC U2477PWQ is based on PLS panel that covers 100% of sRGB environment and offers the maximal viewing angles (178/178 degrees). The model boasts 300 cd/m2 brightness, 4 ms response time, 1000:1 static contrast (50M:1 dynamic contrast), and 16.7 million of displayed colors.

The monitor is housed in a textured frame, supplemented by a transparent stand. The latter allows adjusting the display’s height, swivel and angle of slope as well as transferring the screen to portrait mode. In addition, it is equipped with VESA bracket for …
