Lenovo Presents a New Workstation – ThinkStation P320

At the Develop3D Live conference, the Lenovo Co. presented its new ThinkStation P320 workstation. The specialty can be performed in a standard tower case, as well as in the SFF form factor framework. It is meant for professional needs or VR content creation.



Lenovo ThinkStation P320 can be equipped with a 4-core Intel Core i7 or Xeon E3-1200 v6 CPU, 64 GB of DDR4-2400 (ECC) RAM, a couple of Nvidia Quadro P1000 graphics cards for the SFF chassis or one Quadro P4000 for a tower case.


The 4 TB 3.5-inch hard drive, the 2 TB 2.5-inch SSD and a 1 TB М.2 SSD are used for data storage. Discs can be combined into RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 arrays. The gigabit Ethernet and the Intel Wi-Fi 802.11ac wireless adapters represent networking capability. Peripheral devices can be connected with the help of six USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 ports, a card reader, eSATA and Firewire interfaces. The workstations are also supplied with an optical DVD-RW drive.

Main Features

According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the case may accommodate very large components: a video card up to 375 mm (or 400 mm in the absence of the front fans) and a power supply of up to 200 mm in length. CPU cooler may be up to 165 mm high.


Despite the construction of Aerocool P7-C1, the power supply is placed in the most common way, and the board is set to the standard six-millimetre racks. The thumbscrews for fixing it are not supplied.


Let’s have a closer look onto the drive installation. The carriers for 3.5" storage devices are simply stretched on hard drives. They are to be straightened a little to be installed. The 2.5" storage devices are attached to the carriers’ by cogs, and it is possible to mount them not only to the ends, but to the ground as well.


The carriers with the mounted hard drive are simply retracted and sit in place securely enough. And the solid-state drives are fixed to the carriers by thumbscrews.
