AMD Unveils Some Strategic Plans for 2013

Not so long ago AMD held a private presentation for investors and partners dedicated to the strategic plans for 2013. Its PDF-version has recently appeared online and immediately called attention of all interested parties. The most unexpected news concerned the long-awaited Steamroller micro-architecture. According to AMD, the debut of an advanced architecture will be accomplished in the current year, not in 2014 as it was informed earlier. Steamroller will be incorporated into an updated series of AMD Opteron server processors which are to ensure an improved efficiency level on parallel data processing operations.

The other promising piece of news touches upon the launch of a new APU series already this year: AMD Kabini and AMD Temash. Kabini is going to replace Brazos platform employed in small-sized multimedia systems and other hand portable solutions. In its turn, Temash is going to be implemented into highly-efficient tablet PCs, running under Windows 8 OS platform.

MSI Announces an Optimized Radeon HD 7750 Graphics Card

A new graphics card based on Radeon HD 7750 adapter is going to replenish the line of products developed by MSI. Codenamed MSI Radeon HD 7750 (R7750-1GD/OC), the card is based on AMD Cape Verde Pro GPU. Its nominal clock frequency has been increased from 800MHz to 830MHz index. The model accommodates 1GB of GDDR5 memory with 128-bit interface; its nominal frequency equals to 1125MHz, while its effective clock frequency equals to 4500MHz.

The implemented printed circuit board employs only high-end elements, including high-quality solid-state capacitors. If compared with standard analog items, capacitors integrated into MSI Radeon HD 7750 are characterized by a better efficiency, lower operational temperatures, and longer lifespan. Effective cooling process is ensured thanks to the two-slot cooling system which consists of a single fan and an aluminum heatsink. This cooler is able to provide the utmost airflow necessary for the cooling of all internal components. A set of …

Intel Offers the CNVio Interface as a Substitute for PCIe and USB in Wireless Modules

SoC Intel Gemini Lake products, Cannon Lake processors, as well as Intel 300-series chipsets for desktop Coffee Lake CPUs will get builtin CNVi (Connectivity Integration) modules. It’s already clear, that these modules will contribute to Intel platforms wireless connectivity in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks.

CNVi obtains the Wi-Fi 802.11ac (and lower) MAC media access controller, MAC Bluetooth 5 controller and the wideband Bluetooth 5 modem. Radio-frequency Wi-Fi and WiGig components will stay as the discrete CRF (Companion RF) interface with a wideband Wi-Fi/WiGig modem and necessary high-frequency circuits/filters.

At present, the SoC/CPU/south bridge hold several wireless platform parts, which saves costs, simplifies design and solutions developing. However, the Intel company suggests using the CNVio interface and Wireless AC 9560 modules (available in M.2 2230 and M.2 1216 form factors) of its own making instead of PCIe and USB. We doubt whether it’ll be possible to …
