Intel Broadwell CPUs will Get BGA Casing

The Internet community is energetically discussing unofficial info concerning the future Intel's Broadwell processors. According to the yet unacknowledged data, Intel will branch off from currently traditional LGA casings in favor to a more advanced BGA solution. At present all CPUs designed by Intel specifically for desktop platforms feature LGA (Land Grid Array) casings which allow the users to upgrade their systems without any hassle. On LGA implementation, the chip is housed within a socket and contacts with the motherboard. As a result, the user might change one chip to the other only with similar set of contacts.

The launch of Intel Broadwell processors, which is planned for 2014, might dramatically change the situation for customers. Most probably Intel will refuse from LGA casings and accommodate all new CPUs in BGA ones, marking the change of Haswell generation to the future Broadwell generation developed under 14 nm technological process. Arctic Releases Cooling System for AMD Graphic Adapters

Swiss manufacturer of cooling systems, Arctic Cooling, has recently released a new cooler developed specifically for graphic adapters from AMD. Earlier this year the company launched the cooling system which is compatible with graphic adapters from Nvidia developers. The new product, codenamed Accelero Hybrid 7970, distinguishes from its predecessor also by the foot of water block which is upgraded to be compatible with AMD HD 7900 series.

Cooling system Accelero Hybrid 7970 consists of two parts which boast as air, so water cooling standards. It is able to manage up to 320W of hot air. The water block is cooled down by the 120 mm fan which is able to achieve the speed in the measures of 400-1350 rpm. The block, that is installed on the board, is equipped with 80 mm fan and is able to achieve from 900 to 2000 rpm speed. The noise level is dwindled down to the minimal index.

Arctic representatives claim that their new water block is 200% more efficient than the nominal …

Nvidia Announces Quadro K6000 Professional Graphics Solution

Nvidia is going to release a new graphics card for professional use from Quadro series. Entitled Quadro K6000, it is targeting high-performance workstations, due to an uncommon computing efficiency with 5.2 TFLOPS single precision. This graphics adapter fully utilizes the computing possibilities of GK110 GPU and accommodates 12 GB(!) memory to lead across the segment.

Nvidia Quadro K6000 is based on GK110 graphics core (Kepler 28 nm architecture). As distinct from mainstream customer-oriented versions with neutered core – Titan, GeForce GTX 780/770 – this model employs a full-fledge core. This results in the augmentation of CUDA cores up to 2880 items, ROPs — up to 48 items, and TMUs — up to 256 items. GK110 here runs at 900 MHz.

In reference to GDDR5 video memory, its overall capacity makes up 12 GB, which is twice more than mainstream processors have. Its nominal clock frequency equals to 1502 MHz, while its effective index rises up to 6008 MHz. The connection …
