Eizo Foris FS2735 – Review of a Japanese Gaming Monitor

Introduction
Eizo chose the path that is pretty close to the solutions of ASUS and Acer. The monitor is equipped with the 27-inch IPS panel with 2.560 x 1.440 resolution, so you do not need such a powerful video card as for a 34-inch display with a resolution of 3.440 x 1.440 pixels and UHD monitors. The maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz is quite high, in combination with AMD FreeSync technology the user gets a very smooth gameplay. The bottom bar of FreeSync is 35 Hz. But Eizo has other trump cards in the sleeve. For example, a customer can manage the Foris FS2735 using a smartphone, communicating with the cloud. And it is possible to share your own settings with other gamers.

Of course, the price is appropriate: a customer will have to give 1.099 euros for the given monitor. Service support for Eizo is also the best, as you get a five-year warranty and a replacement on the spot in case of a damage or inappropriate work.

Design
For the 27-inch Foris FS2735 Eizo has added a few bright accents, which are intimate to gamers’ hearts. And this is not a backlit base, like ASUS, and not a stylish aluminum rack, like Acer. Eizo chose a more modest rack that looks compact, but provides the FS2735 with the necessary stability. In the rest the monitor seems simple and perpetual.
Eizo abandoned the stylish edge-to-edge design. It uses a narrow and skewed frame, it looks pretty, although it does not differ much from the traditional solutions. But the narrow frame allows you to use these several monitors together.

From behind Foris FS2735 looks livelier. The Japanese manufacturer added a red plastic detail, as well as a ring for cables on the bottom. If you do not install the FS2735 close to the wall, you will be able to appreciate the modest game design. But Eizo declined the additional illumination that you can find in some competitors.
Eizo has installed the I/O panel at an angle, which makes it easier to lay cables. On the interfaces for the FS2735 all right. In addition to the required DisplaySort input for the FreeSync, which most users will use, there are two HDMI ports and one DVI input. On the right you can see the USB 3.0 port upstream for connection to a computer, audio input and output in a 3.5 mm format. Unlike ASUS and Acer, the Japanese manufacturer built a power supply inside the monitor.

Eizo installed two USB 3.0 ports on the built-in hub closer to the end of the monitor. But for permanent connection, for example, keyboard ports are quite convenient. It's nice that Eizo has taken out a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones on the left end of the monitor.

The quality of the materials and the manufacture of the Eizo monitor are traditionally excellent.

Closer Look
In the past, Eizo monitors featured the excellent support of ergonomic adjustment functions. And the new game model FS2735 is not an exception.
You can adjust the height of the 27-inch panel in the range of 155 mm. So you can find the most comfortable position for a longlasting work or playing. But you will not be able to lower the panel to the desktop level, unlike some Eizo models. However, the panel in the lower position does not reach the surface of the table for a few centimeters.
Eizo allows you to adjust the slope of the panel in the range from 5° to 35° — more than most consumer and gaming monitors.

Among the ergonomic functions is the 90° rotation of the panel into portrait mode. It will not be useful for gamers, but the vertical orientation of the FS2735 screen can be useful for work sometimes.

This time, Eizo decided to install touch-sensitive buttons, which are pretty well designed. But for a new gaming monitor, a different approach was chosen, the buttons are mechanical. To ensure that they do not interfere with the integrity of the front panel, the buttons (power button, two additional buttons and a mini joystick) have been transferred to the back panel of the monitor, without any signatures from the front. Hints appear on the screen by pressing any button (including when you press the power button for switching on).
With the exception of this feature, the FS2735 gives us a traditionally good on-screen menu for Eizo monitors. It is divided into two levels. On the first one, you can adjust the brightness or choose one of the predefined modes. On the second level there is an abundance of settings.

Conclusion
The Japanese manufacturer introduced a high-end monitor with a good set of functions and can be called the leader among AMD FreeSync models.

Externally Foris FS2735 is not very similar to gaming monitors, if you do not consider the original stand. Red elements appear only behind giving the 27-inch display less boring appearance. Compared to competitors, the Eizo novelty seems more rigorous, but this can hardly be attributed to shortcomings. The quality of materials and workmanship is at a high level for Eizo, the same applies to the first-class ergonomic functions. 27-inch monitor supports wide ranges of height and tilt adjustment of the panel. There is also the possibility of turning the panel into a portrait mode.
Eizo Foris FS2735 — a first-class gaming monitor, which combines an abundance of functions with great picture quality. Support of the refresh rate of up to 144 Hz provides a really smooth gameplay.
