AMD is working intensely at the development of 8-core processors, the release of which is prognosticated for the 4th quarter of 2012. According to the preliminary data, AMD will release two models at once: FX 8320 and FX 8300. Such information could not but rejoice all customers using AMD FX processors on Bulldozer architecture, since the new CPUs are promised to be more efficient. Similar to the flagship model AMD FX-8350, the two models will be designed on the basis of 32 nm micro architecture. They will support DDR3 memory with the frequency of 1866 MHz and will have 8Mb of L3 cache-memory. The two models will also support Socket AM3+ slot. Four- and six-core models of Ryzen 5 Summit Ridge processors have already appeared on sale, and almost everything is known about the speed and overclocking potential of the eight-core models (R7). The new Ryzen series processors are actually system-on-a-chip (SOC). Integration of the memory controller, functions of which have been once performed by the north bridge, is not something surprising.
