I-O Data Introduces New SSDN-3V to the Home Market

I-O Data, a well-known Japanese developer of top-tier peripheral and interface products, is going to introduce its new SSD series, codenamed SSDN-3V. The newbies will become available in the home market already at the end of the current month. The series involves three models of 60 GB (SSDN-3V60), 120 GB(SSDN-3V120), and 240 GB (SSDN-3V240) capacities. All the models are thought to support SATA 6 Gb/sec interface.

Solid-state drives from I-O Data are based on SandForce/LSI SF-2281 controller and employ NAND flash-memory, designed under 24 nm technological process. SSDs feature 7 mm case depth, but the availability of a dedicated adapter promotes for their installation into a standard 9.5 mm drive bay.

In regard to performance, SSDN-V3 drives offer up to 306 MB/sec speed on consecutive reading operations and up to 186 MB/sec on consecutive writing operations.

Moreover, the manufacturer will deliver the products in a package with a special adapter for the connection …

Release of Security Acceleration Module from Check Point

Check Point representatives have announced the release of their new creation Security Acceleration module. This module has been developed with the heightened security in mind, and according to the up-to-date hardware acceleration methodology with the consideration of the requirements stipulated by the high-performance environment.

Check Point is notable for the design of an advanced SecurityCore hardware-based technology which stimulated the development of a module with the firewall bandwidth of 110 Gbit/sec. At the same time, the latency level doesn’t exceed the margin of 5 microseconds. This technology employs parallel computing capabilities used for the process acceleration and safety. The module is equipped with 108 cores which allow the central processor to swap-out and transfer the vast majority of operations connected with the security issues to the Security Acceleration module. In its turn, this provides for the better safety options in network environment.

WD Prepares Voluminous Re+ HDDs for Data Centers

Western Digital announces a new high-capacity 3.5-inch HDD for data centers. The WD Re+ will be available in versions of up to 6 TB. All of them are designed with power-saving ideas in mind; hence, their maximal power consumption index does not go above 6 W. The new-comer employs five-platter architecture and SATA 6 Gb/sec interface that guarantees the maximal efficiency level. Moreover, its MTBF index approximates 1.2 million hours on average workload index of 550 TB per year.

The WD Re+ is distinguished by the following advantages:

— the incorporation of dual actuator positioning system that improves the drive’s working efficiency;

— the implementation of RAFF technology that monitors HDD parameters in real time and compensates for the linear and angular vibration;

— the employment of StableTrac technology that reduces vibrations and stabilizes drive platters;

— the usage of TLER technology that prevents latencies or an abrupt destruction of RAID … …
